Default What are the chances...

What are the chances of having a healthy pregnancy when my HcG values only rose 51% Please be honest. I called my doctor, but no one has called me back yet. I'm kind of freaking out.

BTW, a little more information- I had the first blood sample taken at around 5:30 p.m. and the second blood sample was taken this morning at around 8ish- would the fact that it wasn't exactly 48 hours in between affect the results?

Don't stress yet. They went up, that's good.

My numbers did not double this pregnancy (but it was more like 90%) and that was after more than 48 hours between draws.

There's a site about falsely diagnosed miscarriages, and lots of ladies post there that their numbers didn't double and they've got healthy babies either otw or already born.

I can't promise everything is fine, of course, but try not to stress too much just yet

You can enter your hcg levels, dates, and times & get your exact doubling time at this site... http://www.betabase.info/doublingCalc.php Hope it helps!

cdcy1973- I wish I could meet you in person to give you a giant hug! I'm still really nervous, but according to that site you gave me, my percent was 65.8. I'm still going to be on pins and needles until I see his or her heartbeat, but I feel a little bit of stress relief knowing that my percent wasn't THAT low. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Oh yeah, there's tonnes of hope there! Plus, the higher your numbers get, the slower the doubling time. Keep us posted, but it wouldn't at all surprise me if all was completely well in there.

Amber, the fact that it wasn't quite 48 hours could have A LOT to do it with it. On average, in the beginning they will double every 48 to 72 hours.

Different things happen all the time though, being the reason I said on average.

What were your original numbers? Once those numbers get up around 6000, it can actually take up to 96 hours to double completely. So if you were closer to that, it would explain why they aren't right on target. Also, like a pp said, it can take up to 72 hours, depending on the person.

I'm really glad that I was able to get some answers re: my levels from you guys, because the hospitals "nurse advice" dept. STILL hasn't called me back. ARGH! Why is it that unless you tell them,"I'm cramping and bleeding and I'm such and such weeks along", you're nobody to them??? All they kept asking me yesterday was,"And what symptoms are you having?" Why don't they understand that pregnant women -especially ones that have already gone through a miscarriage- know their bodies and they KNOW when something doesn't seem right?
Now, given, the only thing wrong is that my levels aren't extremely high, but I knew something wasn't right- I didn't need cramps to figure that out. But every time they asked me what symptoms I was having and I would answer,"None, persay", they treated me like I was crazy.
And now it proves that they didn't care, because they've yet to call me back "within 24 hours". Idiots.
Sorry. I needed to vent. I'm sure you all understand though. I'll retract my claws now.

I overanalyzed my HCG numbers wwaaaayyyy too much. My RE stressed that its ok if they do not double and mine didn't so the more research I did online the more sick I felt in my stomach. Well needless to say I ended up being pg with twins and we heard both heartbeats last week so I know what you are going through but just try to stay calm!!!

I'm sorry the Dr.'s office has been so unresponsive - that's very frustrating, especially considering what you've been through they should be more understanding and prompt to offer you information and reassurance. I hope things get better for you so that the anxiousness can settle down. I know how hard it is in those early weeks and I hope your Dr. starts getting clued in to what you need soon!

My doctor sent me an email this a.m. and said that he's happy the numbers have increased and he's setting up a transvaginal ultrasound for me for Wed. the 11th at 10:40 a.m. Wish me luck.

I'm glad you finally heard back from them. And congrats on the great news. Worrying about those numbers in the beginning is very nerve racking. And the fact that your second draw was less than 48 hours after your first draw would have a lot to do with why they didn't double exactly. I have my fingers crossed for you on Wednesday. Be sure to keep us all posted.

Now BEFORE you go freaking yourself out at that ultrasound, please please please be prepared that you may not see a heartbeat yet!! You'll only be right around 6 weeks, and at that point, sometime you can see the h/b and sometimes you can't even see the fetal pole yet, so do NOT panic, y'hear? All three of my kids were 'slow starters' and we didn't see heartbeats till 7 weeks or so. By then, they were right on schedule and stayed that way till they were born (or, in this kid's case, soon to be born)!

So repeat after me: "I will NOT panic if I don't see a heartbeat on Wednesday." Got that?

at six weeks with Tristan we only saw a sac and they had me freaking out telling me that it was going to terminate...funny thing is two weeks later I had a healthy little swimmer going in circles with a HB of 150 so dont freak out if theres nothing too noticeable yet
