Tylenol is the safe bet. I know it doesn't compare to hydrocodone, but I wouldn't take that until you first talk with your OB. If you weigh the risks vs benefits with your doctor you'll come up with the right answer.
I hope your back eases up on you soon. ![]()

Ughh..I feel ya. I had bad horse accident 6 years ago that left me with a torn up shoulder. I had two surgeries and the pain is still very severe. This pregnancy I haven't taken any meds for it and it's been rough. I would definitely ask your doctor about it...

I don't think hydrocodone is safe in pregnancy at all. Here is a link to a web-site where you can check the safetly of different meds in pregnancy and what kind of things they can do to baby.
This is the link to the hydrocodone page: http://www.safefetus.com/DrugDetail....e&TradeId=2759 You can also search other drugs as well. Sorry you are in pain ![]() |

per the instructions of the high-risk doc, i had to go off of my regular hydrocodone and tylenol 3 prior to trying to get pregnant (for a persisstent shoulder injury). I used lidocaine 5% patches, tigerbalm patches, tylenol, heating pads and wraps, tennis balls, and alot of massage from my husband. I can't say it was as effective, but it made it bearable. If you have access to trigger-point therapy, it makes a huge difference.

I was allowed to take tylenol 3 when I had a tooth pulled at 17 weeks. Granted it wasn't something that I would have been taking for a period of time, but my OB did ok it for me to take.

I was OK'd for percocet in the first trimester...I don't know whether it would help your back pain, but there are some meds that can be taken while pregnant, so I would recommend talking to your OB to see what is safest for you and baby.

Ah, I had been prescribed Tylenol 3 in the beginning of my third trimester. I didn't take it (because of unrelated concerns), but it was permissible as pp said.
Remember that with most of these meds, it's not per se that you "Can't" take them but that if you do, it has to be under the care of your physician who can take into account the health of your pregnancy, other meds that you're on, etc. (Don't just take random internet people's word that X drug is listed on x website as a problem - or not.) Presumably, you've discussed this with your OB and/or pain doc and they are working to come up with a plan that will balance the pregnancy needs with your pain needs. If not, do so asap. Sounds like you could use the help (and I hope you get it soon). |

Do you think maybe a Chiropractor might help? My sister was thrown off of a horse (well, several times. She is a trainer) and she sees a great Chiro that really helps. I know it's no pain medication, but it might help correct whatever pain you are in? It's worth looking into. I know in my area, there are several Chiros that specialize in pregnancy.
