Isolt, I have a high stress job as well, and I took a couple of days off after the transfer. It was completely worth it, if nothing else for my own peace of mind. I barely even left the couch.

I am lucky enough to have a trustworthy boss who I can tell, but even if you don't tell your boss, I recommend that you take a little downtime.

Surprisingly...I am more stressed about that than the IVF!! Go figure!! Not that I do not think about it, but I am just like in lala land with the IVF stuff...I will sadly admit...I actually could not do my lupron shot tonight and had to have DH do it...WT...I give shots to ppl all day at work and had no problems when I did 4 mos of follistim! Ehh whatever! He did great tho! Good luck Wed!!

My doc says he will give me the go ahead to take the time off, but I was wondering what you all did. With all of this $$ being spent I wanted to give it it s best chance and our last failure I was traveling so much I don't think it was good, plus the decrease in stress may be good. Also If I do, what do I tell my boss?? She is a huge gossip and I have no trust in her. I do not want her to know my personal business. With short term disabilty (STD) I do not think I am obligated to tell her why I am out, just that I will be out for a procedure...what did any of you do or tell work?

I have a big blabber mouth boss....she kept some of my stuff to herself but not all....ugh...that is a whole other subject...but I did take time off during that ~2 wk period that the ER and ET are TBA. But I will be filling in where we are short when I can. I too have a very stressful job. I am an RN on a super busy surgical and trauma unit. It is your decision whether you want to tell your boss or not! I did it for myself so that I could get the time off since I do have a stressful job and am on my feet for 12+hrs a day and do have to do heavy lifting sometimes. I plan on getting a docs note this week so that while I am stimming and so on....NO MORE HEAVY LIFTING! Besides I work with my momma...and well lets just say that my boss has pissed off momma grizzly....so need I say more??? .

Anyway...take time off if you think it will help you relax!!

Xevy...thanks for sharing your story. My boss is a 44 yo women and never had children and has no empathy whatsoever. She actually told a girl I hired she had to stop breast feeding before she went off to training...I heard it from another employee, and when I ran back to my employee to tell her to pump and I would pay for the shipping she had already weaned (she started crying)...I think I was more devastated than her. But I want her to know nothing b/c I can actually see her coming after me if she knew I was taking the time off to have a child...and her thinking is I will be off again in 9 months and she will ride my butt. So the longer I can keep it from her the better.

I definitely stressed about taking time off of work last cycle. It wouldn't be a problem if I had some forewarning, but I didn't want to take off more time than necessary. This time hopefully I'll have a better idea of when the transfer is so I can rearrange my schedule. My boss is great, but I would still prefer to keep this to myself. She said she didn't want to pry and asked if I needed any more time off. :-) I guess I'm pretty lucky in that sense.

Oh Isolt I am so sorry that you have such a cold hearted bioatch as a boss.

My work knew the 1st time I got pg(naturally) then I m/c...I told them nothing after that. They had no idea I had 2 more pregnancies and 2 m/c. My supervisor just knew I was going for bloodwork. Unfortunately,an exfriend of mine(long story kind of like single white female-she is a nut) in the office decided that she HAD to have a baby too(married for 12 yrs to the same man and had no desire for kids) and started going for surgery and IVF and totally took advantage of time, she took weeks off just for monitoring and the transfer. Screwed her co workers in the process of all her time off.

Due to circumstances of her creating a hostile work environment for me I had to tell the supervisor EVERYTHING. I had to do this because I had to tell him to tell her to leave me alone. Yeah like I needed that stress on top of everything else. Sooooo that is why I had to let him know all my business now. In my office the worst gossips are the MEN! So I made sure to tell my supervisor that you don't need a week off for the IVF stuff. Actually I told him way more info than he needed to know, same with all the other gossipy men. I fugured the more they knew the less they would want to know about my cycle, ultrasounds and hormone levels. It worked all the details are way TMI of all the females stuff.

I don't know why these bosses think it is their business to tell the other employees. They suck! Don't tell her...Do you have to have a note from your doc? Or if you take STD(jeez that sounds awful) does it just say you are out of work for a certian amoint of time?

Screw that nasty hag, take your time off for the monitoring, transfer abd after. You shouldn't have to deal wit any extra work stress on top of IVF.

Sound like your haggy boss is a bitter woman. I hate her for you!

    I am off my

Hey girls, first I wanted to say I am so sorry for the BFN's this process is so hard. I had my first IUI on 2/14. I did not have a chance to come in and ask questions because it happened so fast. I went in on 2/13 to make a plan with our RE because of no BFP after 3 months of clomid. He decided to do an ultrasound and found a 24mm follie and I got a positive OPK that afternoon and IUI the next morning. DH and I are suffering from secondary infertility and DH has low morphology and just above normal count and motility. I am praying it works this cycle but my temp dropped a bit today and usually that is not good for me this late in the LP. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and hopefully we will all get out BFP's soon!

IUI disaster. We were called last Wednesday night (after blood work and ultrasound that day) and told thursday would be our 2nd round of iui with clomid. WELL, Thursday morning I woke up with diarrhea and was throwing up. Horribly sick. I called and cancelled. and cried ALOT. The doc said to try our best to still BD that night. Well, we did what we had to do. It was the most horrible experience for both of us. Honestly, it would be a miracle, no, more than a miracle if this is the month. And now I am completely back to normal. Sometimes I just can't win But we can now laugh about it.. Funny way to tell us this isn't the month. I feel funny even taking the progesterone. There is no way. NONE. no way. Better luck in March. Just thought you could all use a laugh. This baby-making stuff can be crazy.

Shannon - Don't give up hope just yet - If you've stalked as many FF charts as I have, pregnancy and non-pregnancy LP temps can be all over the place. Try to wait and see what tomorrow and Wednesday bring - hopefully your temp will go back up and not be like other cycles. BTW, I don't think your current cycle is showing up on the overlay - that may help you/us to see if your temp is following a regular pattern or not. I'm praying extra hard for you, Shannon!!!

Mom - Ugh. I'm SO sorry to hear your cycle got cancelled. What sucky timing for you to get sick. I don't know why things happen the way they do, but hopefully one day soon when you're holding your little baby in your arms, it will all make sense. I hope that this cycle is not a bust for you - miracles can and do happen.

YIKES! Ur boss is crazier than mine! Mine just has no backbone when it certain things....she is not very consistent with ANYTHING....in fact she is a flake! I would just see if you could get some docs note to get you our of work but not specifying why!! It is none of her business! Good luck!

Isolt-You're boss sounds like a nasty woman. I know exactly what you mean by wanting to keep this to yourself. Im a school teacher and was at a very stressful school last year. This year I transfered schools and was very nervous taking the time off, seeing how I was new. I had my doctor write a general letter, no specifics and not in their normal stationary. I say take the time you need, don't let this stress you out. That woman is not worth it! Take care!

I have some friends in HR and they gave me some great advice:

"You really don't need to tell her anything more than your dr. ordered you out of work for the next X weeks and you'll keep her informed of your "return to work" date. However, to avoid more uncomfortable questions, I'd say that it's my X (specialist) that's recommending my STD for R&R after I have a personal surgical procedure. If you're asked what it is, you can easily say it's not something you feel comfortable talking about."

"If you have a benefit person that you can talk to, I would make sure that person knows that it is your preference to keep the nature of your procedure as confidential as possible, as you do not want the office knowing. A good benefit person should always keep those matters confidential. While they will have the info from your doctor, as usually in order to qualify for STD they have to fill out the form, that info should remain in the benefit department. All your boss really needs to know is how long you will be gone, and if you will return with no restrictions."

This all makes me feel better. Last time I have to travel during monitoring and missed appts and I just don't want to risk it this time. Thanks for all of your support!!

Hi ladies....so sorry to hear about the boss woes...I feel for you!! I work with ALL guys....but they have been very supportive and only ask questions if they have to.

Isolt, I am traumitized by what your boss did:
My boss is a 44 yo women and never had children and has no empathy whatsoever. She actually told a girl I hired she had to stop breast feeding before she went off to training...
In Colorado, we now have statutes on the books that say employers are required by law to provide time AND a place for mothers to breastfeed for 2 years.

Here is a good website to look at various state legislation:

I just had my IUI today. Post wash sperm count was 28million and I had 2 nice sized follicles. I had the HCG shot yesterday..

If it works out I will be hapy .. otherwise I plan to take a break..Clomid has made me very emotional and I am concerned it cud lead to depression or what not... I definitely need a break from the stress...

Congrats on having your IUI! 2 nice-sized follies sounds great! (I don't know about the sperm count numbers since I'm new to this). I hope that this does work out for you, but if it doesn't, a temporary break would be good - both for your body and your mind. I plan on doing the same, but just for one cycle. One cycle on, one cycle off, and so forth. Just never give up! Please keep us posted on how things go. Will you have a follow-up U/S?

No more ultrasounds for me. I have to wait for 2 weeks to know if it clicked or not.

Clomid(50mg) created a tiny polyp in my uterus plus I have a fibroid in the uterine wall. In the one month break I take, I plan to speak to my doctor and see if he can take off these two(hysteroscopy/Lap) and then proceed.

    Good Luck everybody.

So I am such a friggin' cuckoo bird. I have given myself shots many many times before (I did follistim for several cycles) and never had problems doing it, the occasional hesitancy but then I just do it and I'm good. And I have been giving myself the Lupron for 11 days and then all of a sudden Sunday night I could not do it then last night I was freaking out and couldn't do it. DH did it for me both times. BUT WTH is wrong with me. Am I losing my mind????

Perhaps it is just the stress of everything, work school and now this that is getting to me. I sent my FH a txt and asked where he was (he is a state trooper) and his was 30 mins away. So then he called and wanted to know what was up. I started crying and he was like whats wrong and I told him that I can't do my shot again. They don't hurt at all and I don't even feel them most of the time. So what is my deal? UGH. He was like I'll be right there to give it to you.

Any of you had this problem? I told DH that I felt dumb b/c its not like I have not been able to not do it to before and I do it to other people allll the time! I swear I AM LOSIING IT!!

Anyway, just wanted to vent....but DH is such a trooper (no pun intended) with the shots and he did so well! I guess it gives him practice for the progesterone shots since they have to go in my a$$! He takes good care of me!!

    Anyway....hopefully more news tomorrow!

I suppose to be starting my birth control pills on CD2. So, I've been spotting for the last two days, nothing I'd consider AF. Now, I'm waiting for the nurse to call me back and tell me what to do. UGH! Way can't something be easy, anything? I want to get this whole thing started. After TTC for the last 4 years....my patience is gone.

    Sorry...just venting.
