    Default No allergies.......

    So, had my followup with my allergist... and I have no allergies to speak of...
    The Flovent I was on didn't seem to help...so I will no longer be taking that....
    The Zyrtec that I had been taking for "allergies" has also been stopped....
    I am to up my Prevacid to twice a day....
    The next step was to:
    * get an x-ray
    * get a CT of my lungs
    * see a pulmonolgist
    But I can't see the pulmonogist til after Ryleigh is born...and the doc doesn't think that I HAVE to have the CT/x-ray done right this second, so I am going to wait til after Ryleigh is born before I explore any more avenues... unless something else happens in the meantime...

    The good news is I don't have allergies....
    The bad news is they still don't know what is causing me to cough so much....

    I guess I just wait it out....ugh...

    ugh! good news rolled into uncertainty. Lovely. Im sure that's pretty frustrating. I wonder if just the position of the baby up against your diaphragm is just signaling to your body to cough or something.....like how its harder for some women to get deep breaths while preggo. Asthmatics cough a lot because their body is saying a need more air.....maybe your body is reacting the same to babys position? I don't know, lol. Just thinking out loud. I don't even know if thats possible, lol.

    The doctors have pretty much ruled out asthma... although the pulmonolgist will have the final say....My cough really hasn't gotten worse...nor has it gotten better... I would think that if it had to do with her position....that it would get worse as I get bigger...it hasn't seemed to do that. DH has stated he thinks I have had this cough a lot longer, but that it got worse after I got pregnant.....so who knows....
    It isn't that I can't deal with it...it is just so annoying....but I can handle anything to get this little girl safe and sound and healthy....so....I think I will just wait and see... and if things get worse...I know what I can do...or request... but for now...I am just gonna keep on keeping on.....

    I hope you can figure out what it is soon! Maybe just some bizarre pregnancy symptom. Have you moved into a new house recently-ish? Maybe you have asbestos or mold or something? I mean even if you're not 'allergic' to it, it can still be an irritant. Hopefully whatever it is, it'll subside after the pregnancy!

    I was thinking along the lines of what Jessie said...maybe something is irritating you, but you're not necessarily allergic ??

    I'd likely forgo testing until after pg too , but really praying it clears up for you pp and you won't have to worry about it at all .

    My assistant has had a chronic cough for years. Was on all sorts of allergy meds and asthma meds. Finally went to a chronic cough clinic and specialist....testing turned out she had very high gastric acid levels. So even though she had been taking heartburn meds as well, they just weren't strong enough. Got on stronger heartburn meds and that has helped her cough immensely.

    I have lived in the same house for 5 years now....(although we are kind of looking for a new one)...this current house was COMPLETELY remodeled about 6-7 years ago, like stripped completely to the bare bones....so I doubt anything within it is causing my cough.
    My allergist is hoping that the double dose of the protonix will help the cough....we shall see...
    I will keep ya'll updated.

    Could it be something pregnancy hormones imposed and can likely to go away once the baby is born? Sorry you didn't get more answers but great you have no allergies
