Thread: Nanny questions

    Default Nanny questions

We are looking at hiring a nanny in the fall. Our favorite teacher from daycare may be available. We have never had a nanny. I have 4 kids that will be 5, 3, 3, and 1. I live in Seattle. What is an appropriate hourly wage? How much paid vacation do you give? Or do you do a monthly pay. It will be at least 47 hours per week considering commute time. My oldest will be in kindergarten and I will look to see if I can do preschool a couple mornings a week for the twins for socialization. I consider the person we would hire a friend and want to be fair. Any advice would be appreciated.

Mira's nanny started at $15/hr. Later, she got a raise to $16.50. Mira was going to daycare at the time, part time, so she also did work around the house, while she was not home. We're in the metro DC suburbs.

We pay $12 for one child. For 4 I think $15-$20 (while I wish this wasn't the case!) is appropriate.
