Thread: Why can things never be easy?

Default Why can things never be easy?

Crap...positive OPK this morning. I was supposed to trigger tonight and IUI Saturday. Now they are saying no trigger and IUI tomorrow.

I never had success until we added the trigger...even though I ALWAYS got + OPK's...timing just never was right.
I asked if I can take the trigger today and still IUI tomorrow, nurse said they have never done that, but she is asking the RE.

What would you do? Trigger anyways, even if he says it is not needed? I know the trigger does help give the follies a final boost, and since I had one that was not quite mature that boost could help (I did get my two final doses of gonal f in...last night and early this morning thankfully).

I am leaning towards taking it anyway...I know my RE does IUI's 36 hours after trigger, but I do know other ladies RE's do it 24 hours after...so it can't hurt right?

I'd go for the trigger. The positive OPK just means 24-48 hours, right?

None of those times are exact. I think I would trigger.

    Thanks ladies!

Thankfully when the nurse called me back my RE said I could go ahead and trigger. I got it in about 24 hours before my scheduled IUI time.

Hopefully the final 2 doses of gonal (last night and about 6 this morning), plus the trigger will make sure that yesterdays 18mm and 15.5mm mature and release for tomorrow's 10am IUI.

    Thanks guys!

So what do you think about my 15.5 follie? Do you think 2 gonal f shots....plus a trigger 24 hours after the scan, helped it make it to mature? I guess it still has until ovulation to grow a little more. My RE told me 16+ is mature...but I prefer 18+ myself. I doubt it made it to 18...but may 17 ish???

Now I am back to not feeling so good about this try again...dang it why did I have to get a smiley face today.

Thanks guys! I am guessing with 48 hours to grow, 2 more gonal f injections and a trigger the 15.5 probably made it.

Now I am just a little more concerned on our timing. I guess we will just have to see...

The IUI went pretty well, the RE assured me that timing is really good. I had 11 million live and swimming after prep...which is standard for donor sperm.

    Thanks Momma!

You don't think the Gonal F can give a false + on the OPK do you? I had close to 150iu (broken up into am and pm injections) the day before the OPK test...and then another 75iu the morning of the OPK. I don't think that would have made a false + but just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about it.

No, I really don't think it would . Those follies have to be ready for the LH to surge...I think it's a great sign that the gonal-f was working well! I know it's not ideal with an IUI because of timing, but it sounds like you are definitely well within your window of opportunity!

I am just seeing this, but I wanted to let you know that my doctor had me trigger only about 12-15 hrs before my IUIs - and we had only one not take and 2 successful ones So I think you should definitely be okay with a 24 hour time period. Fingers crossed for you!

Thanks Anne, I love hearing the positive stories

I am feeling pretty good about it, I think I had for sure 1 mature follie, and since I am not in pain today like I was yesterday I do think I "O'd" yesterday within 12 hours of the IUI....hopefully something wonderful comes of it!!!

I just wish they could come out with an immediate test LOL.

I forgot to mention - I only had one mature collie each time, too. I don't remember the sizes, but I know there was only one. Definitely hoping for some good news in 2 weeks!
