Oh, lol, my snacks are all jumbled...here's for clarity's sake:

10am apple w/1T sunflower seed butter

3pm 14 raw carrots, plain nonfat greek yogurt w/1T Almond flour

9pm mug brownie (which includes the rest of the ingredients...the egg whites were raw, lol, not boiled like it says )

    Calories: 1673
    Carbs: 137 (59g sugar)
    Protein: 124
    Fat: 76

My "carb goal" according to MFP is 188/d which includes 55g of sugar. I'm almost always under my carb goal, but a little over on my sugar goal (dairy products and fruit...which I try to combine with a protein).

Hmmm...now that I'm looking at the MFP report for yesterday, my snack isn't looking quite so "low-carb" (about 30g in the cake and I washed it down with 2/3c milk which is another 13g)...maybe that's the issue ?? Yet my total daily carbs look fine, right? Is it overall daily intake or per meal intake that is more important?

I've been loosely following this: http://www.cdph.ca.gov/programs/Nuti...alDiabetes.pdf

Tonight I had 2c cut up mixed melon and 1/2c cottage cheese...I guess we'll see what my bs looks like in the morning .

Didn't mean to leave you hanging, Kelly! I think your meal carb intake is too low.

    Breakfast: 15-30
    Snacks: 15-30
    Lunch: 30-60
    Snack: 15-30
    Dinner: 30-60
    Snack: 15-30

You're barely over the low end ... But the idea is to keep a constant slow burn of carbs.

It is tough to figure out the right balance, for sure, but you ended your day with probably the most carbs in one sitting for you, which is probably why your FBS was so high.

Thank you so much Dorcas for looking at all of that for me !!!!

I read back over the info in the link and reviewed my MFP food reports from the last week and I think you're right...I'm not eating enough carbs . LOL, I was getting frustrated because a lot of my carbs come from non-starchy veggies which the link said I can eat "unlimited servings" of, but I couldn't figure out how I can stay within my carb intake AND eat unlimited servings of non-starchy veggies...until, lol, I read the small print under the "lunch and dinner" plate that says "Eat 45g carbohydrates, not including non-starchy vegetables" . So, ya, that makes a lot more sense...going to try to focus on getting the recommended amount of carbs from the "grains" group to see if it helps.

I do feel like although my bs numbers are mostly normal that my bs levels fluctuate more than they should ?? Sometimes I get low bs symptoms out of nowhere and my number will be in the 30s-40s...other times I'll test it an hour after I eat and it'll be 130s-150s. My FBS is anywhere from 70s-98 which again, isn't bad at all, but should they fluctuate that much, especially since I eat essentially the exact same things every day with only slight variations?

I eat healthful, whole foods, get regular exercise, and the only diabetes in my family are my paternal gma and maternal gpa (they were in their 60s when they developed type 2). I just think maybe I'm not eating things in the right combinations to maintain consistent bs levels.

Anyway, I don't want to over-think it or put undue emphasis on my largely healthy diet if it's not necessary, but I do want to make sure I'm doing the things I need to to have a healthy baby/body. This isn't my first time around the block and I'm not in my 20s anymore. I've had healthy pgs/babies up to this point, but I have more feelings of uncertainty this time around because I went into this pg a bit less healthy than with previous pgs, my asthma has worsened which means unfamiliar meds including a hospitalization early on, and just having more of an awareness of the fragility and brevity of life. My perspective is mostly positive, but I've battled the worry-demon a bit more this time .

I'm glad you discovered that fine print!

Your diet is ABOVE AND BEYOND more healthy than mine, for sure.

I totally get your concern ... my answer to your #'s is there is probably little to no research dedicated to what a non gestational diabetic pregnancy's blood sugar levels look like or even what they're supposed to look like.

When I look at the carb levels of some things that I would have partaken of prior to GD I'm amazed ... Panera Bagel 59 carbs! Small milk shake at Cold Stone 94 carbs!

I imagine whenever you indulge in more carbs than is normal for your system (in one sitting) you're going to experience a spike in BS. I would think that would be a normal response in anyone's body. I think it's consistently high responses to not so high levels that really indicates a problem. But that's all just personal theory.

My readings have been really good the last two weeks, FBS in the 80's and that's better than it was a month ago and I feel distrustful of my monitor, except that I know I also haven't been gaining a bunch of weight, so I guess the BS levels and weight together tell me I'm on track ... because I certainly do gain weight if I'm outside the limits of where my BS should be.

Dorcas, that's encouraging to hear...that with even little changes your FBS #s are so much better and it's having an obvious, positive impact on your weight gain !! It's also encouraging that despite there not being any/much research regarding preggo's and non-GD bs levels that evidently that means it also is not likely to cause issues (lol, otherwise they'd do a study on it I would imagine)...at least that's what I'm taking away from it . Thank you so much for helping me think all of this out...means a lot to me !

Oh...and Under 100 days left...woohoooo, loving the double-digits under my ticker!!!!!!!!!!

Kelly, funny thing is ... I made no changes that I can think of that would result in lower FBS numbers Kinda made me wonder if there's some sort of metabolic change in the 3rd trimester, since that's usually when they test anyway ...

I've gained 6lbs this pregnancy so far, so I'm pretty proud of that.

Woohoo, I am so super excited !!!

I'm starting my 3rd tri/7th month this week, and my 19th anniversary is Tuesday...to celebrate I am going clothes shopping, lol, my non-maternity shorts/jeans just do not fit comfortably anymore . I always start getting big, fast around this point...been living in my yoga pants and capris at home lately, but I really need something a bit nicer for when I leave the house . I'm filling out everywhere, not just my belly...haven't weighed myself lately, but I'd imagine I've put on a few pounds the last couple weeks. Baby sure seems to be growing fast too...lots of strong movement all over .

Yup, that's me, lol, I haven't changed my caloric intake much and have been even more active (30-60min brisk walk almost every day), but I weighed myself this morning and I'm up 6lbs since my last appt 3wks ago, which makes a total gain of 14lbs so far . It's an adjustment to gain somewhat rapidly (my back/hips aren't thrilled about the 5hrs of walking at the zoo yesterday), but it was a healthy and needed gain so I'm happy with where I'm at. LOL, just need to get myself some clothes that are more comfortable and flattering...I feel like I look huge , but I know comfort and cut of clothing can make a big difference in my body perception .

Good job on the weight gain!!

And I agree about the clothes. I have a lot of maternity wear that is super frumpy but comfortable. I will only wear certain outfits in public, the ones that make me feel all around more attractive and are more flattering. When I get really down I have been running out to get a new top or two. Been able to find really good deals at Target on the clearance racks, they must be making way for Fall clothing. (but I'm trying not to buy too much because i won't be needing them ever again)...

Varya, eesh, that would be so stressful...as if we preggos don't worry enough, right !

I can't say I'm not hoping I've only got about 10lbs left to gain , lol, but if it ends up being another 15-20 it'll be fine .
