I feel the same about my BS levels.
I'm glad that your appointment is this Thursday! ;)
And glad that mocha loved the recital!
I noticed that sometimes for me triggers are very simple and otherwise regular things. Also since I have heartburn and reflux during pregnancy they cause more attacks. So may be your gastro is acting up? Hope you have a better day tomorrow
Dorcas, it's so frustrating having something that we're supposed to be able to "control", but not being able to get it under control, isn't ! I hate that I feel, in part, like it's my fault somehow !!
Varya, my dd mentioned that she did use hairspray and maybe that's what set the coughing off (she used my bathroom to do her hair and we rode in the car together) . We've used the same hairspray for years, but have been out for months (lol, we're low maintenance in the hair department over here ). I just bought more and it was the first time it was used so maybe that's was started it and obviously by the time I got to the church my airways were already irritated so the mildewy/dusty environment just made it worse. I told dh it felt like I had inhaled sand .
I did eat wheat (gluten irritates my gastro) on Sunday so that's a possibility I hadn't thought of (why do pizza rolls have to be so good )! I've been on nexium now since the weekend and it usually takes a week for me to notice improvement and up to 3wks to feel much better (I assume it's because my stomach is healing).
It bugs me I have to micro-analyze my life like this . Hoping and praying the pulm will be able to shed some light it .
On a fun note, I'm going shopping today to get an outfit for dd's open house this weekend !! It's supposed to be 82 and partly cloudy up north on Saturday and her party is at a park on the beach so it should be perfect !! It's also another dd's 11th bday so she's having some friends there too for a "beach bday party"...LOL, it is MI so the water is still going to be frigid, but kids don't seem to mind . I'm getting bathing suits and flotation devices for my kiddos and some extra "floaties" on hand for kids who may not bring them. I'm excited and a little nervous...just hoping there's enough food .
We're Moms ... if we weren't micro-analyzing our lives, we'd probably be silently doing so with our kid's lives. ;)
I just read an article about MSG that's so depressing ... speaking of wheat and pizza rolls. LOL.
The open house / birthday party sounds like it is going to be fantastic!!
I worked with a lady once who could not have ANY chemical exposure. No one in the office could wear cologne or perfume because of her asthma. I loved it, I dislike smelling everyone's chemicals, too. Hairspray has A LOT of chemicals and fragrance in it, so I wouldn't be surprised to learn that was the trigger. It is upsetting when you have to learn how to navigate your world differently.
LOL, isn't that the truth...I guess micro-analyzing just comes with the territory !!
Ugh, did not even think of the MSG !
Well, I came home from our shopping trip today empty-handed for myself, but found everything else I was looking for, yaay ...not an easy task when looking for different styles in different sizes for each kiddo . My oldest DD found a cute pencil skirt and blazer, on sale, for herself...there will be events she has to dress up for at college next year so she needed something business-casual .
I'm going shopping tomorrow too for food/decorations for the open house so I'm going to stop into a few other stores and see what I can find .
I absolutely can't stand dh's perfume and aftershave during pregnancy even though normally I love them. They make me gag, sneeze and cough. And if he used and hugged girls I feel like giving them a shower lol
Yay to the beach parties! Hope you get to enjoy them thoroughly. wish I was able to waddle to the beach but alas it is a whole science and labour to waddle for room to room atm lol
Oh and Dorcas is right on to mention MSG: it can set off so many bad things in out bodies. I would know -I live in a country where they put MSG in everything and eating at a Chinese restaurant for me ends up in hangover kind of feeling.
Varya, lol, not too much longer for you though and you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your summer with baby on the outside, yaay !! Ugh, I can't imagine trying to avoid MSG where you live...that has to be crazy hard ! My dad's side of the family has known MSG allergy (my aunt has an anaphylactic reaction)...I don't have an overt reaction, but it doesn't do me any favors either.
I had a dream last night that I was bleeding ...so unnerving, but it was really good to wake up and everything is fine . I think it was a result of dtd the other night and my irrational fear of upsetting my pg. After this weekend I'll be beyond all of my losses (ds had no hb at 17wks...induced and delivered at 19wks)...it will feel really good to be able to relax a bit more .
So far so good without the steroid . Ha, and hoping this fluid retention takes a hike asap ! I'm looking forward to my pulm appt tomorrow afternoon and hoping to get a bit more clarification on some things .
Mocha was kicking me last night so I put my hand on my belly and felt a little kick, eep, so precious !!
Heading out shopping again today to get the rest of the stuff for the open house this weekend and hoping to have success in finding an outfit I like, lol, if not, it's no big deal...just hoped for something cute, comfy, and new for the party since my entire family will be there .
You are nearly half way through! !! And you know that you do have to show off your outfit, right? Lol
Glad to hear Mocha is kicking up the storm!
...found an outfit for Saturday, lol, and a bonus outfit too because it was cute, comfy, and coordinated with the accessories I got to go with the other dress, wooot !!
Although, as I was shopping tonight the prednisone withdrawal hit me...feels like I'm coming down with the flu, but it's just my immune system kicking my tail for letting it "oversleep" . I even took my temp to make sure I wasn't getting sick, but it was low as always (oral 96.4). I took tylenol for the headache which is helping. Hopefully I'll wake up feeling better tomorrow .
Hope you're feeling better today! A new outfit always makes me happy. I've been wearing the same 5 things for, oh, 6 months or so LOL!!
Natalie DH 9/01, 1/06 NaturallyNatalie's Hair Accessories!
Thanks Natalie...feeling much better this morning ! I still have a bit of a headache and body aches, but not like last night .
Haha, I was having buyer's guilt until I checked my account this morning, phew, it's all good ! It was psychological, lol, I knew how much I could spend, I knew I stayed within that window, but then I was laying in bed and panicked a little thinking I miscalculated .
I'm leaving for my pulm appt around 1pm. LOL, I'm having my kids clean the car before I go because I'm using the hospital's valet service . I don't do parking garages unless dh or dd are with me to help me orient...I have a horrible sense of direction and although they have attendants to help you find your vehicle I really just don't want to be escorted around the parking garage for half an hour trying to find it .
Fx all goes well at pulmo!
Pulmo appt went well .
My lung function is great, which I expected since I just came off 5 days of 40mg prednisone. He increased my flonase (nasal steroid) to twice per day and switched my allergy med from Claritin to Zyrtec (said it was stronger ). He is doing blood work to see how reactive my immune system is to current allergens. Because I'm pg my care plan is still basically "use rescue inhaler and go to ER" if my peak flow drops below 80%....especially since I'm a "low perceiver" (lol, which just means I'm not very good at recognizing symptoms ). I'm still not 100% clear when to use my albuterol...he said when in doubt to use it and eventually I'll get a better feel for when I'm symptomatic. Until then I'm supposed to rely heavily on my peak flow meter. He didn't want to add an oral med because of pg, but did mention that and allergy shots as a possibility after pg if my symptoms haven't improved. LOL, I asked him about "pre-treating" with albuterol when I know I'm going to be exposed to cats specifically and he said: "avoid cats and tell your family your dr said" ! So he didn't feel pre-treating would help but left it up to me. I go back in 6wks and every 6-8wks throughout pg.
I'm happy with how it went and am glad to have confirmation that I'm doing what I can for now.
I am glad that you got some answers with your pulmologist! I have an appointment with my primary care doc on monday because I have a cough that doesn't seem to want to go away, but I am not short of breath, don't feel sick, and DH says that I don't cough when I sleep....the cough is just annoying.
I am very happy that he wants you to visit him every 6ish weeks....I would have been a little concerned if he didn't keep up with ya.
Glad you have good results and more recommendations! I had to take chlorpheniramin (sp? ) entire time with dd2 as neither claritine nor zyrtec were working. And 7 months ppt antihistamines stopped working at all so I ended up in er - I mentioned already - and then on some meds which were affecting dd2 via bm. I am glad I am off all meds for a year now after taking them for over 20 years!
I hope the rest of pregnancy goes uneventful health wise.
Lizzy...I hope you get good news at your appt Monday ! A nagging cough is so aggravating . I'm really glad too to be having follow up with him throughout my pg...always nice to have an appt "on the books" even if everything is going fine, just in case something does come up.
My dad used to take Chlor-trimeton for his allergies...I remember it always being in the house . I know it causes drowsiness like benadryl and am considering taking benadryl at night again if the 2nd dose of flonase doesn't end up resolving my nasal symptoms after a week or two (I'll ask my dr first though). Both the hospital pulm I saw and the pulm yesterday emphasized the importance of controlling nasal allergy symptoms to keep asthma under control because it drains into the chest/lungs, at night especially, and causes irritation, which does make sense. My OB did say I can take sudafed after 13wks and as heavenly as a decongestant sounds right now, lol, I want to hold off. I feel like I have a hard-ish time as it is staying hydrated (despite drinking 60-80oz of water almost every day).
Wow, 17wks tomorrow, I seriously cannot believe it !!! Mocha was quiet all day yesterday, but gave me a comforting before-bed performance, lol, lots of little kicks and wiggles .
We are heading up north today for my bff's oldest's graduation open house and tomorrow is dd's (we're spending the night up there tonight and heading home tomorrow night). I'm all set and looking forward to it, but I can't say I'm not also looking forward to Sunday when it will all be behind me .
17 weeks almost!!!!
Chlorpheniramin is actually different. It doesn't make you drowsy and it is category B for pg. And can be taken as often as every 2 hours.I took it 3 times a day and every 2-4 hours for attacks.
Enjoy your getaway!
Kelly that is a huge milestone. Big congrats....
Woohoo! So happy for you! Outfit picture? Lol
Can you believe I did not get a single picture of the entire day ?!?!? I was going to give the camera to ds and have him take pics, but I completely forgot . I'll have to have family/friends email me whatever photos they took . I'll still get a pic of my new outfit (with me in it, lol ) since I'll be wearing it next weekend too for her open house here ! Although, I got comments from friends/family that they were (jokingly) disappointed I wasn't really showing, lol, I tried to get an outfit that would show some bumpage, but there's just not much bump yet .
Awww what a bummer about pictures! Hope someone can email you plenty of them!
Thanks Brittany !! Doing okay on the asthma/allergies front. After being outside all day Saturday and for a while yesterday, my peak flow is a bit low and I've been coughing a lot since last night, but my breathing is good so I know it's just allergies/irritation. The increase in meds feels like it's doing it's job and keeping the asthma away .
The weekend finally caught up with me late yesterday afternoon, lol, I was *exhausted*!! I slept great though and feeling ready for this week .
I had a healthy-eating hiatus this weekend , but am getting back on track today. We did a nacho bar for dd's open house and, oh wow, I was absolutely craving the nacho cheese and jalapenos so I ate insane amounts of it with tortilla chips...it was sooo yummy, lol, but I can't say I'm unhappy it's gone since my self-control tends to fall to the way-side when it comes to cravings !
I'm ordering school books today for the 2014-15 school year . I'm planning to start school with my youngest kiddos (3rd, 1st, and K4) after the 4th of July (they finished school in April) so we can take Nov and Dec off to get ready for baby and get through the first 1-2months . My 6th and 8th grader will start math at that point and ease into the rest of their subjects with the expectation of having everything begun by Sept 1st. My 10th and 11th graders follow their own schedules. It feels good to have a plan !!
I ordered ultrasound gel on Amazon, lol, been using preseed with my doppler . It should be here by Friday .
