Haven't heard from my OB regarding the glucose test so I assume I passed for now.

The anatomy scan went well. Bean is perfectly healthy and is a BOY! Will post pics later when I can

Congratulations! Earlier I read "Ben" instead of "Bean" and then was like - why she needs to find out the gender? Lol your ds must be happy to have a baby brother! !

DS actually has said he wants a baby sister all along, so we were worried about how he'd take the news. He seems to be taking it well so far. He'll completely forget about baby sister when little brother comes. He's also getting a baby girl cousin in July, so that might help.

Ugh. Heard back from my OB's office... I didn't pass the 1-hour after all

She tried to get me to do the 3-hour but I declined. Told the nurse that I had GD with DS and that I was likely to have it again. She tried to change my mind saying every pregnancy is different but I really hate those glucose tests, so what's the point of putting me and Bean through that again?

    ...I'm so sorry Jen!!

So what's the next step for you? Will you start monitoring, see a dietitian, etc...? Did you have any trouble managing it or associated complications with DS?

Thinking of you and praying it stays well-controlled for you

Last time they had me go to a class to learn how to manage it. My insurance didn't pay for it so I'm going to see if I can just have my primary monitor it. My aunt is a dietician so I suppose I could call her. I managed it well last time with diet and exercise so hopefully that will stay the same too...

I'm sorry, Jen. I hope this time it is reasonable for you to manage like last time was.

I didn't go to the class and managed it just fine. Since it felt like that wasn't going to be the case this time i thouhhgt about asking for the class, but things seem to be evening off. It seems that i can't quite get away with the treats I did last tims, but i guess perhaps that's an age thing ... Like they are so fond of reminding me. It seems really ridiculous to get the whole "you're not as young as you used to be" thing at 35, though!! Probably feels just as ridiculous at 40. ;)

Had my regular OB check-up today. Everything seems to be fine. Didn't gain any weight this month, which I suspected would happen after changing my diet to a more GD-friendly diet. My OB gave me the name of a Endocrinologist to help manage my GD, so I will call tomorrow and try to get in to see her. My OB talked about inducing again in the 39th week due to GD, which is fine by me. She said induction the second time around is generally easier, so I'm glad for that. My L&D with DS was no cake walk. So far so good!

    Great update !!!

My inductions have all went well...better than my natural labors actually! I know it's not that way for everyone, but I've been thankful mine have been straightforward . Mine weren't scheduled though...my water breaks and no contrx .

I hope the endo has lots of insight to share to help keep your GD under control .

I finally got an appointment to see an endocrinologist tomorrow after weeks of dealing with insurance nonsense. I hope I like her- I really didn't like the one from the last pregnancy! And I hope once I start monitoring my blood sugars that everything stays under control. Wish me luck tomorrow!

Love the new endo! Wish I didn't have to see her, but I'm glad that she is super nice and totally understanding. WAY different than the one they sent me to for DS. Got all my supplies today, so will go get the meter calibrated/checked tomorrow and then hopefully start monitoring on Sat. Really don't want to start tomorrow since it is a holiday. While I don't plan on eating a ton of bad carbs, I am planning on eating a piece of a Coca-Cola cake that I'm making

Glad you like your endo. It is so frustrating when you have no choice but to see some doctor who is not kind or understanding! Enjoy your cake and est it too

Day 1 of monitoring has gone well. I know it is still early in the PG but I'm happy not to see the early high #s that I got with DS. I'm still having my favorite dessert from my favorite restaurant on my birthday in a few weeks though ;)

so glad your first day is showing good numbers!!

Totally enjoy your fav dessert/restaurant...being too strict is a recipe for failure, so indulge without guilt, right !

Ugh. I have come to hate food. I no longer take enjoyment in eating since I have to monitor my blood sugars. I seem to have very little issue controlling my GD with diet but I cannot seem to get my fasting one under control. One day it is great, and the next it is over 100. This is so frustrating and I've only been doing this for a week :/

    Yup!!!! I know that feeling!
I am just glad that I have a bit of appetite again...cause honestly....I didn't think I would ever be able to want to eat again...
Hope that things start to look up sooner rather than later!

I'm so sorry Jen ...having to constantly analyze my food intake would drive me over the edge I think
