    Default vitamins

Is anyone giving your baby vitamins? Every time I try Wes spits them out, plus his breath stinks the rest of the day. I have been trying here and there to give them to him but have to admit I haven't been very consistent.

When I remember I just give him a D vitamin which doesn't stink at all.

I'm going to ask Caden's pedi about it at our next visit. I feel like he should be getting all the nutrients and vitamins he needs from breast milk? I don't want to overload him with anything.

I feel much the same about getting everything they need from breastmilk. I know the iron stores start to deplete after 6 months, but for now the nutrients should be covered. So I don't feel too badly about "forgetting" to give W his vitamins daily.

The concern is for vitamin D. Many moms have low vitamin D and hence then do not have enough for the baby, too.

Popping in, don't quite have a 0-3 mo yet BUT this is my feeling on it. I never gave DD vitamins until she was a toddler.

True. I do try to make sure we get outside for a little sunshine, too!

I take a daily vitamin D supplement so I'm hoping some of that gets passed along to DS.

I take twice the recommended dose and have done so for years. My level was only either 32 or 35. Recommended levels are 30 - 100...I am hoping to be able to get more sun now that my body isn't freaking out over fabric softener. I used to burn in five minutes and then go back to white (no skin darkening at all) but last month got a little red and it actually caused my skin to darken slightly (first time in 11 years).
