Default Am I being overly sensitive? (Vent)

I usually don't take things too personal but for some reason something one of my co-workers said really got to me.

We are going to be bringing in treats for St. Patrick's day on Friday, which I love!

She says she is going to make chocolate stout cupcakes with Irish Cream Icing and states in her email, "the alcohol cooks out, right???:-)"

I responded by saying that yes it does in the cupcake but not in the frosting.

We work in the Developmental Disability Field. We work with children with Alcohol and drug issues all the time. I don't care if other people drink alcohol while pregnant it's just not my thing. I can wait until the little guy is here and even then I probably won't for a while.

So her response to what I wrote was "Ehhhhh.... won't be much in the frosting. Im going for it!!!!"

I want a cupcake and I know it won't hurt the baby because really there is not much in there but I guess it was how she said it.

I dunno. I think I am being overly sensitive and I just need to get over it.
I guess If I have a pregnant co-worker and I knew their wishes I would alter the recipe to make sure it was safe or make something different but that is just me.

    Thanks for letting me vent

People don't consider how others will perceive/react to what they say....even the nicest people can say the dumbest or most ignorant things.

Honestly, it would bother me just the way she wrote it.

She could just as easily split the frosting and made 1/2 with, and 1/2 without if she was so adamant that HER cupcake has alcohol.

Thanks everyone. I guess I don't think the same way she does and if I knew she and others were on a diet I would make stuff lowfat. I guess I am just more consciences than my co-workers sometimes.

Thats what we get for being so caring,,,, unfortunately everyone else isnt.
With her letting you know there's alcohol in them and asking you, you would think she would have just altered it but who knows what ppl think..... \
i would email her back asking for the recipe cause you really want to try them but are not going to eat them with the alcohol in them...that will make her think

Im also thinking baby wants a package of cupcakes!! INDULGE!

I think they are the skinny version and there is only 3 teaspoons but because other people are bringing treats too I might just purposefully let her know that I just choose not to eat them. But I will be making full fat, full sugar cookies to bring lol!
