Default My3sons is back in hospital

Susanna was admitted back in to hospital with a heart condition she developed after baby. She needs some healing vibes.

She is sad missing out on baby girls first week.

Get well, Susanna. Keep us posted on how you're doing!

Still in the hospital............Hope hope hoping to go home for real today. I feel like I am missing all the fun first days with my little girl.

The good news is I'm alive and I can type with my right hand again today (the previous days I could not use that arm because of all the junk they had in it.)

I had no idea what happened to me was even a possibility, no one ever warned me to watch out for these signs.

You know how at the end of your pregnancy you can't breath and you can't lay on your back? 2 days postpartum I noticed that I still couldn't lay flat. I couldn't breath if I layed flat, just like when I was huge pregnant, except there was no baby squishing me so why couldn't I breath? My husband said give it some time and my body would get back to normal. 4 days postpartum everyone was gone to the baseball fields for practice, it was just me and baby girl, and I realized I couldn't catch my breath. I had to take deep double breaths and even then i couldn't seem to get enough air in my lungs. It was like slow drowning. It felt like someone was sitting on my chest.

Long story short- we ended up in women's ER, they checked my vitals and thought something was wrong with the pulse ox thing because my pulse was only 31 beats a minute. i could feel the hard slow motion chug of my heart in my throat and that is a scary as hell feeling. They were already calling for transport to the main hospital when we saw that my bp was 180/120. Literally twice my regular rate. I usually run very low at 90/60 & often lower than that. When my husband saw the #s he went kind of white, he works in hearts at the hospital so he knew what all this meant, i think he was more scared than I was.

All i knew was I had this feeling that I was going to die, I wasn't saying anything, it was too hard to talk anyways. I was trying to breath and not cry. Mostly I was sad for my boys and mad that I finally got to meet my little girl but now I was going to miss all the fun stuff with her.

The ER is a blur, that whole day is a blur. Being admitted, getting drugs, ct's, ultrasounds, more drugs, ekg's, etc. Lots of scary words like cardiomyopothy, pulmonary edema, and congestive heart failure. My bnp levels were 450, apparently after giving birth average level is 18. In general you are still considered in the normal range from 0-99, anything above that means your left ventrical is working too hard and you need to find out why. Once you hit 500, they say you are in congestive heart failure.

Thank God and a group of really good doctors, they eventually discovered my pulmonary edema was not the result of heart failure but rather the cause of my heart having to work so hard. Once we got that P.E. taken care of my heart returned to a normal rythm (although it has taken 3 days, a lot of tests, and a lot of peeing. Oh and 3 burning hours of potassium drip fire veins, that is TORTURE.) My bp is still running a little high but definitely within normal limits.

Could yall pray that i get to go home today? We drew last bloods at 4 am and the test should say yay or nay on heading home. I am SO thankful to be alive, but now I just want my own bed and my baby girls things so we can play dress up and get back to enjoying her first weeks together.

Fun Fact: .08% of deliveries are complicated by Postpartum Pulmonary Edema. It can be fatal. I'd never even heard of it until it almost killed me.

I am feeling so wrapped in love because so many people (including people who have never even met me or my family!) have been praying for us and sending their support. Thanks for that, yall probably don't even know how much that means to me.

i am back at home now and so grateful to be snuggled in with my boys and my new baby girl. It's going to be a little while before I feel 100% again, but I already feel SOO much better than I did the day I was admitted.

I hope my story brings awareness to all you ladies so maybe one day if you have a friend or sister with these symptoms you can tell her to get help FAST. Doc said if i waited another day I'd have been in ICU or worse.

Thanks again everybody, now let's all enjoy our babies!

I am so glad that you are home! How very scary. I do understand that wonderful feeling of being immersed in other's prayers. They do make such a difference.

wow what a story! so glad you went to the hospital when you did. I feel like as women we tend to put things on the back burner when it comes to our health as in going to the hospital or doctor and just "letting it heal itself" but im very happy you listened to your intuition! now go enjoy your wonderfull family!
