    Default Hives

So after a few days of this, talking to my Mom (nurse), and some internet research, I am sure that I have hives related to this pregnancy. I did not have them with DS and they are now driving me insane!! I already have dry skin issues and these popped up out of nowhere and itch even worse than anything I have experienced before. They move around from day to day and through out the day so it is really difficult to keep it under control. I am using cortisol since it is on the safe to use list the doc sent me. I think I am just going to keep with this routine till I see the doc on the 19th and see if he recommends something else. Due to some abdominal pain the last few days he is thinking of doing some blood work anyways so I am guessing he might do some for this as well. I've read that the pregnancy hormones can cause/make this worse and since I haven't changed anything about how I eat (not adding anything that is) and all the laundry stuff is the same so it has to be something else. Anyone else deal with really annoying hives during pregnancy?

    28Feb Update
We did see the OB and there is only 1 baby in there!!! It has been days since I have had to take and meds for itching and the last of the sores of the hives on my chest are almost all gone. I think I am over this pregnancy thingy and ready to move on to the next

I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I didn't know hives could be an issue during pregnancy. I ended up getting the PUPPP rash last time and seriously wanted to check myself into the hospital for insanity. I hope it clears up soon!

I may be getting at least the irritation and constant itching under control. I got some oatmeal bath, calamine, and cortisone. It is a lot of work and I have a tube of the cortisone on my headboard since whenever I wake at night to go to the bathroom, I have to add some somewhere on my body. By sleeping in a tight sports bra I have eliminated the itch on the ta-tas. Today I have not had many issues as of yet, except for my hands, but since I use those a lot I guess they are going to be the worst. I have a list going to discuss with my doctor on the 19th and what I have been doing to try to help whatever issues I have been having and see what he says. Some of the spots that were so red and inflamed are actually starting to clear up some after just one day of this routine. I am really hoping that this is going to be a short lived thing.

I did with my last pregnancy & it was HORRIBLE. I was absolutely miserable. I tried everything. I eventually had to resort to Benadryl at the advice of my midwife. Fortunately, I only had a very mild case w this pregnancy, and it's gone. However, this post has me itching!!! Lol

Well, since I was loosing control on the itching, I called the doctor and they put me on Benadryl. I have read stuff on the internet about it which makes me a little nervous. I am relieved that it has helped the itching drastically. There is about another 20 mins till I can take another pill and the itch is just now starting to come back. My only concern is that it does make me very drowsy and we just got word that I may be dealing with the rest of the pregnancy alone and I am not happy about being drowsy while home alone all day with DS. Oh well. Guess that is life I may see about the steroid shots instead if it becomes a major later on. I did get a chuckle out of the people watching me at the mall today since I was constantly scratching my arms and hands while DS played at the playground there I love how people that don't know since I don't look pregnant yet give me such funny looks

A friend of mine who is PG (she is 7 weeks ahead of me) said she recently has broke out in what looked like mosquito bites she said all over her arms and she said it looks like hives or something now. Wonder if it could be the same thing you are experiencing?

I thought it might be this cause it was like that at 1st. Once it started spreading there were huge welts all over my legs and arms. The Benadryl is helping and I only had to take 1 dose today.

My friend was reading online that the hives can be related to multiples and she has another friend who has multiples who experienced the same thing lol have you had an u/s yet? Just curious lol
