Default Let's get Scientific about it -(says the nerd in the room)

If I'm nervous about the baby or my kids or life in general, I'm one of those dorks who finds comfort in statistics. i.e. When I fretted over preterm labor I'd just say to myself 'statistically speaking if the baby were born right now she would do well and only have to spend (this) many weeks in NICU.' So to ease this waiting period (because HOLY CRAP I am so ready for my baby!) I was surfing for scientific data on due dates. I mean really, what are my chances of being one of those moms who delivers at 42 weeks???

So I'll admit I've been a little disappointed that labor hasn't started during this 38th week, but statistically the chances were pretty low anyways. Finding out that twice the amount of babies are born in week 39 is very comforting! Our chances go up from 12.9%(in week 38) to 26.2% (in week 39) !! Yay!!!!!

I've never seen a pregnancy due dates chart lay this out so well, and if you dig deeper you see the research parameters are well thought out. If you want a chart that goes more in depth to be inclusive of due date variables (based on LMP or U/S, etc); they have one of those too!

Wow, you can really tell how anxious I am to meet this baby.

you're too funny lol! I have noticed a lot of moms that I know in person and a lot of moms I have seen through here have delivered at 39 weeks. I have always been a little odd because my family has a week late policy lol well not a 'policy' more like a tradition. My mom was 3 weeks "late" with my sister(it was her first so going 2 weeks late is normal not to mention due dates are almost always wrong that's why I say "late") then a week late with her other 2 pregnancies. So I think it's safe to say this little lady will be a week late. But I'll give her until March 1st then we will need to have a serious talk lol If she goes three weeks late my poor husband will go out of his mind!
I hope you get to go soon I always hope that though. Sounds like 39 weeks is a very good possiblity

That was interesting... But given I delivered last time at 41+1, that means this one will probably be late too. Dang it! I'm so ready! I spent yesterday reading birth stories and getting mentally prepared.....

Haha, too funny, but expect to be pregnant for AT LEAST 40 weeks, likely more. Esp if this is your first time around. Don't worry, I know the last weeks can be really difficult but once the baby is born, time unfortunately FLIES.

Chels and LSVNurse- I also always went past my due dates too. (With the exception of an induction at 39 weeks for surrogacy). But us pregnant gals can hope.

Are you ladies bouncing on your labor ball? Or doing any other tricks at this point? I've been taking EPO like mad. I'm so sick to death of raspberry tea but still I choke it down everyday. I found out they also make red raspberry leaf in a capsule form, so of course I'm taking that now. Pineapple smoothies are actually quite delicious and have become part of my morning routine. I plan to have the ripest cervix on Labor & Delivery! Oh and any time I feel the urge I drop full into squat position and tell my little girl it's time to move down and out! My 11 year old son thinks I've lost my pregnant marbles.

    Easy Peasy Pineapple Smoothie Recipe:

Large chunks fresh pineapple (about 1/4 of a pineapple)
    glass full of ice
    1 Activia vanilla yogurt

Blend all in a food processor til smooth. It's like an Orange Julius for the cervix.

I really haven't been doing much:/ But I WAS walking with my kids, cleaning the house like a crazy women and stretching every night before this flu thing happened. Now I'm tired just thinking about taking a walk. I tried EPO with my second because I knew I would be induced at 40 weeks. I feel like it helped a lot I just never got around to getting it this time.
Although DH is still doing his part to get things going ;) lol
Oh and I LOVE picturing your 11 year old's face while you squat down where ever you are lol I'll bet it's something he will remember forever hahaha

I'm debating gettin my membranes swept tonight at my appt. If baby isn't ready, they won't come and at least I can feel like I tried! I'm so over this misery!

I ended up getting my membranes swept - my cervix was 4-5cm, very soft "like butter", 70% effaced, and baby is at a -1 station. The midwife thinks the baby is about 8 and a half pounds. Well, she actually said she couldn't do a real sweep because there wasn't much attached anyways. She could feel the mucus plug and baby's head and basically we're just waiting for a signal from baby that it's ready to come!

For the past hour, I've had crampy contractions every 5-8 minutes. No more bloody show, just a couple of drops on the pad. I am drinking lots of water and had a protein shake just in case it's time!!

Hang in there ladies, your babies will come when they are ready. I learned my lesson when trying to "induce" labor on my own

You all want healthy happy babies. I know it sucks to be pregnant at this stage but the time is coming, I promise.

Sophie'smom, can I ask what happened when you tried to induce labor on your own? Sounds like it didn't end well.

LSV- Sounds like you are very close! Please keep us posted, I'll be stalking this site all day.

I tried every trick or wives tales and karma bit me on the butt by having a car accident the Friday after going hard core on my intents to induce labor. I ended up having an emergency c-sec and baby spent some time in the NICU.
It may or may not be related but it sure felt that way.
