How many of you have told family and friends that you are expecting? What about siblings?
I finally told my neighbor friend/workout buddy last night. I couldn't wait anymore! I'll be telling my parents today (in fact I just uploaded my u/s to my computer...figured I'd mix it in a folder with other new pics of my girls and surprise them when it came up!) and we'll probably call DH's parents in the next day or so. I will also call my sister either tonight or tomorrow.
As soon as we found out DH told his dad. He works for the family business and wasn't sure what to expect so he told him in case he had to have time away from work. Since he told his dad, I felt we had to tell my parents and his mom, so we told all of them 3 days later. We waited til after the ultrasound to tell his 2 sisters. I told the girl I work with due to some heavy lifting that is sometimes required (its just 2 of us in the office, other people pop in and out, but most of the time its just us). We both also told our best friends too. We are waiting to tell anybody else until at least after our next appt in a week...at least that is my plan but DH kinda changed the whole plan from the get go, but I'm glad he's so happy about it!
We pretty much told everyone. I told my boss because of the terrible morning sickness and I wanted her to know what was going on, and eventually told all the girls I work with. All of the other people outside our office area don't know, but I suspect they will start asking soon.
We made our official Facebook announcement after our first appt at 10 weeks. It was nice to finally let it out!
We told family after the 1st u/s at 6 weeks- we told them on Christmas. Then we made it public this past weekend, I was 12 weeks by then. There were a few other close friends and family we old in between, but now everyone knows.
Ok, so I told my parents last night. Or rather, I showed them. Set up some new pics of my girls on my computer with the u/s photos at the end. They looked at them but neither of my parents got it!!! Even though my mom read my name and the date on the u/s aloud...they kept wondering why I had someone else's picture on my computer! Geez. I had to explain that this is MY u/s with OUR new baby's pic. LOL. Then my dad says, "But I thought you were done?"
Gotta love parents!
Lol some reactions are priceless! I think that sometimes it is so unexpected that no matter how obvious it is it takes a minute (or 5) for it to sink in and be processed.
When we were preggo with DS2 we put a shirt on DS1 that said he was gona be a big brother. My grandmother took his coat off and read the shirt out loud and didn't get it. My dad and grandfather started saying congrats and hugging me and grandmother didnt understand why.
