Allison just couldn't wait!
Work had been keeping me insanely, insanely busy and I guess little Allison decided she wanted me to have a break! I had my regular 37w appointment on the 18th and my cervical check showed I was 2cm dilated and 70% effaced, progress from 36w where I was 1cm dilated and 80% effaced but nothing seemed off track. My husband and I had to exchange our car seat and decided to do so after the doctor's appointment.. we were going to wait to install it but decided just to go ahead and get it out of the way - good thing because 2 hours later, my water broke!
I was admitted L&D around 9:30pm and was now 4cm dilated & my water had definitely broke and my mucus plug was gone. I got an epidural (amaaazing) and by 1:30am, I was 100% effaced but still right around 4cm dilated so I started on the lowest dose of pitocin. By 3am, I was 9cm dilated and by 4:30am I was 10cm dilated but Allison was still station 0.
FINALLY, at 8am - I was able to start pushing and at 9:29am, weighing in at 7lb 7oz and 21 inches long on January 19th - Allison entered the world.
Everything with her is great except her bilirubin levels are elevated - we are doing phototherapy at home and are hoping we can get them down to normal soon.
