    Default Drop-Side Crib

Was reading another post and this got me thinking about our crib. We currently have a drop-side crib. It is sort of a family heirloom type deal. My mom bought it for when I was born and kept it so I could use it for my children. I used it with DD and had no reservations about using it. I love the crib, it has my teeth marks and my daughter teeth marks in it. We bought all new hardware for it before DD was born and none of it is plastic so there is no chance of it breaking down. But with this new law I am a little hesitant. It meets all other standards except for the drop down side. I can not decide if we should use it again ( I really do love this crib) or maybe buy a new one and maybe use it for as a new family heirloom for our new LO. What are your thoughts and opinion about the new law?

HOnestly, we will use the crib I used with DD#2. (The crib we used with DD#1 was recalled and returned.) We have a support brace to keep the drop side stationary, though, that DH will install. It's a solid crib and I just don't see the point in buying another one--it was perfectly safe the last time.

In my opinion, if you feel that it is a sturdy crib & you are comfortable using it then go for it. I haven't read the new law so I will have to check it out. We are also using the same crib that we used with DD. My husband does woodworking & built the crib so we are planning on keeping it to pass down as a family heirloom too.

I really don't know anything about this new law but I would say if you feel that your other crib is safe and sturdy then I would stick with it.
