Default Still haven't seen a doctor...

I am still in the interviewing midwives stage...and I have only met two. I have two scheduled to meet next week, and then I want to make my decision. I THINK I got approval on my home birth through insurance, but I am still a bit leery (insurance companies seem so sneaky).

How many appointments have you all had already?

I have only had one. My doc didn't want to see me until I was 10 weeks. I had a midwife with my last pregnancy, but it was in a hospital setting. I didn't do interviews because my mom is an OB nurse and worked with her. This time I'm in a new town and I had my choice of two hospitals. One i wouldnt trust with a sprained ankle so my decision in doctors was easy. The clinic I picked this time is connected to the hospital I trust. They have 3 docs and 1 midwife and ill see all of them throughout my pregnancy. I talked to a lot of locals and have heard nothing but GOOD about this place.

A homebirth sounds exciting...I hope it goes well for you. Good luck with your search. Please keep us posted!

I have had 3 so far. The first one I had an u/s because I should have been 10 weeks based on my period but only measured 8 weeks. The 2nd was 2 weeks later to try to hear the heartbeat (which we didn't). Then my 3rd was friday when we heard it. I started going to this doctor with my last pregnancy. My original doctor moved & when I went to his replacement I had my first miscarriage. I lost the baby at 6 weeks & she told me "well at least it wasn't a baby yet" I was so shocked I walked out & never looked back. I really like my doctor now. He is awesome! I hope you find one soon.

I haven't had any. My doctor would have seen me at 6.5 week and would probably prefer that I went in. Unfortunately my husband switched jobs right when I got pregnant and so did our insurance. On a personal level I didn't want to see him until closer to 9 weeks since I have had 3 weird 6.5 week u/s that put me in this strange waiting game loop. So I go next Thursday right before I turn 9 weeks. Getting really nervous for that visit in all honesty.

We have only had one appointment so far. Another one is scheduled for the 31st. I think it is pretty awesome that you live in a place with so many options. Hope you find the prefect midwife.

I was supposed to have my first last Tuesday but had to cancel b/c my 6 y/o was home sick. It's rescheduled for this Friday. It was funny...they started going on about how they didn't want to wait too long to see me (when I told them I had to reschedule) but I'm thinking, You don't even want to see me until 8 wks...what's another week going to matter?

Good luck with your midwife search! Hope your insurance will cover everything for you without any issues!

WOW I can't believe a Dr. Would even say that to a patient! I would not have gone back either.

I have had two appointments. I had one about 6 weeks and another at almost 10 weeks.
