Successful external cephalic version

Hello ladies-

So I got a phone call at 9:57 this morning saying my old OB could take me at 11am for a ECV. It took a lot of prep, monitoring, blood draws, IVs, etc before it actually got underway at 2pm. I was given Visteril to help combat the effects and jitteryness of the Terbutaline they then gave me. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. I focused and breathed through it and DH and my midwife kept me focused. It was easy to get baby from butt down to transverse, but then a bit of work to get it then headdown. There is a minor complication, the baby's feet is now above the head. Wiggling toes against the cervix. We are hopeful it will pull its feet out of the way and the doc is hopeful also as there is not much known about this incidence and what to do. He said you can pinch the hands when those come out first and the baby will retract, but not sure about feet.

There is the possibility the baby can flip back to breech, but low percent of that occurring. I have a belly binder on to keep it in place and will take note of different movements. Now just lots of resting and laying around. I think I can manage that.

Holy cow! Did you get an epidural? I don't understand what the meds you mentioned are for (I am not familiar with them) but when I had mine I had an epidural and felt NOTHING!

My turn is on Tuesday, to confirm or not if baby is transverse.

That sounds like quite the production!! Prayers that the baby stays mostly put....of course moving his/her toes!

Visteril is like an anti-anxiety drug to help combat the jitteriness of both nerves and Terbutaline. Terbutaline is a drug designed to relax the uterine muscles so they don't fight the manipulator. They didn't think I needed an epidural and if I started to feel pain would give me Fentanyl. However, they will do epidurals for moms that are further along and that way if it starts labor or baby doesn't tolerate, Mom will be ready for either a Csection or induction.

I just noticed you are a little behind me. My version was done the afternoon after my failed c-sec (I ate breakfast so they had to stop everything as they were wheeling me in the OR lol) so, I already had the epidural on. If baby is indeed transverse I am sure they will do the same procedure since on Tuesday I will be exactly 38.2 weeks, same as when they induced me with DD#2.
