Default Do you pass on testes?

With my first two pregnancies I did not get the std tests or the penta screening. They didn't ask me about the std testing this time (first time beginning a pregnancy at this office) and just did it with my first set of blood work. I will pass on the penta screening though. Anyone else pass on tests? And why?

I usually skip the std test for 2 reasons. First, I know I don't have any. DH and I both waited till we were married to have sex, and I know that neither of us have been unfaithful. Second, I hate needles and getting blood taken so the fewer vials they have to take the better! I pass on the penta screening because I don't know of any risk factors in either of our family's, again I hate needles, we wouldn't terminate the pregnancy if there were a problem, and I know there are a lot of cases where they say there could be a problem but there isn't. I don't want to spend half the pregnancy worrying.

I did not consent to HIV testing with my last 4 pregnancies. I didn't know I had a choice with the first 4. I also didn't get the AFP screening after my second. I only had it done the first two times because I didn't know I could turn it down. I was sexually active prior to dh, and I was sexually active with someone else 7 months prior to dh and I getting married since we went from meeting to married in less than 7 months.

I didn't realize you could refuse the STD testing. Needles don't bother me so I guess it never occured to me. All of my tests have come back clean. I do for sure get the HIV test only because I have had a blood transfusion. It was 14 years ago but you can never be too sure in my opinion. I always decline the other for the same reason, I wouldn't terminate if something was wrong so why worry.

    Me too!

I've never had my OB ask about any type of std testing. I have passed up the triple screen test with my first 2 pg. Not sure if I will this time...I may consider since I'm a little older (38) and while I wouldn't terminate my pg, I would want to be prepared if something were not 100%. My cousin's youngest has spina bifida and they knew ahead of time, so they were able to educate themselves and be prepared in general.

I didn't know they did std testing until I saw the lab order this pregnancy. I'll do it because its better to be safe, even though I'm sure they'll come back neg.
I passed on the other tests and will again. My doc basically said the blood test is 80% accurate but that the u/s is 90% accurate in catching abnormalities, so why bother with the blood test and worry myself.

Yeah, I wrote the title and knew it sounded funny.

Oops, haha I just realized the typo in the title, that's auto correct for you! Lol, now I can't stop laughing haha

I have always done all the recommended testing for all of my pregnancy's and am doing it all this time as well.
