    Default Appointment today

I had an appointment today to discuss blood work and to do the dreaded pap and breast exam . We also discussed my blood work that was done last week. He says everything looks great and reminded me that i'm RH-. No way I would have forgotten that . I hate the shot that I have to get at 28 weeks, but it's so worth it. The best news of all is we scheduled my Big ultrasound for the 8th of February . Only 5 weeks away! I'm sure it's going to drag by now lol. Hopefully the little stinker will show us the goods and not be so secretive like his/her siblings. I've only gotten lucky on the first shot once, and that was with my last son. Keeping my fingers crossed .

Glad everything is good! I'm RH- also. Oh, well...one more thing to add for the 28 week mark. I remember getting it last time. It wasn't too bad. No worse the. The depo shot I was on for 5 years! Lol.

I can't believe it's only 5 more weeks for you! I know the weeks have been dragging being sick, but it seems to be speeding up. This is definitely my last baby, so I'm tryin to get past bein sick so i can slow down and enjoy this.

I'm so glad that you had a great appointment and that you got to schedule the big ultrasound. I'm RH+ so I've never dealt with that shot.

I'm RH- too, although I don't remember the shot at all. Maybe it's blocked out 5 weeks is so close! Hope it goes quickly for you. I never even considered that they wouldn't be able to get a good view and it happened to you more than once. That is crazy.

Yep, I've had to leave bummed out more than once. With my 1st, 2nd and 3rd. LOL

I didn't find out with my first and second boys until 28weeks with DS#1 and was told several times that DS#2 was a girl. Didn't find out otherwise until birth . With #3 DD I had a scan at both 20 and 22 weeks and she was shy both times. I didn't know what she was until I delivered her at 24 weeks. Stubborn stinkers I tell ya .

It's called the Rhogam shot. Something to do with keeping the mothers body from attacking the fetus I think. They explained it to me when I was pregnant with DS#1 10 years ago, but I can't really remember. I just go with the flow and get the shot because I know it's for the best. LOL

Yes, that is correct. I am also RH- and with DS#1, they said I had to have it. With the loss after him, they said I had to have it, then with DS#2, they said it was optional, but my doc said to be on the safe side. Then with the last loss, he said also to be on the safe side. With this one, he said we might as well do it.

But from my understanding, I have heard you don't really have to get one. I still do, because you never know???

Popping in from Aug DD I'm RH- too and got the shot with both my boys and will get it again. From what my Dr's have told me, You only need to get it if the father of the baby has + blood type, cause then there is a chance the baby will have + blood and that can cause a problem.

My grandmother is also RH- and they didn't have the shot back when she was having kids. When my youngest uncle was born he nearly died and they had to do an almost total blood transfusion because somehow his and my grandmothers blood got crossed and her body started attacking his blood because it was a different type and her body considered it a foreign substance. I hate getting the shot too, but better safe than sorry. DS2 has a+ blood type so I know my DH has + blood so I have to get it.

I am glad it went well. I know shots suck but its for your baby and trust me I know considering I get them 2x a day. I cant believe you have your gender scan scheduled. It feels like that it is not that far away. I hope you get it on the first try rather then having to wait for another scan.
