Ours is $185 per week so ranges per month depending on the number of weeks in the month. We finally got a break this year because she is 3 and potty trained (which she was at 2 as well) and we pay $170 per week. I have a cousin that was paying $205 per week.

I did daycare until last year and I charged $210/week and I didn't change my rates when the child got older or was potty trained, but that's only because no one else in my area did. So expensive I know, that's why I started doing daycare so I could still have an income and be a wahm.

ETA: Whoops, just realized this post was in a DD room. Hope you don't mind that I butted in.

Holy CRAP!! I guess we are lucky to have somewhat lower prices in this area! Around here, the average cost is between $500-600/month for one child. I have an in-home daycare (five minutes from my work too, which is awesome) that I love and feel very blessed to have found. She only charges us $720/month for BOTH of my kids and I only provide dipes and formula. She's state registered and has all the first aid/cpr training, etc. Then, I run her 2 kids to school in the mornings (4 minutes away) and she takes off $20/week for that. I suppose I shouldn't complain....EVER!

    popping in....

WOW! The one we are going to be sending DS to part time is 22 a day or 100 a week. That is nuts to spend that much. We have spent a few times in the daycare and I love it, he loves it. Its so clean and well organized.... well as organized as you can expect a bunch of 2-3 y/o to be lol. They serve healthy foods and even locally grown when sold at the farmers market. I could not imagine spending 800 a month.

You all have it cheap. For infants in my area a center costs $1,500 a month. In home (not licensed) cost about $900. Licensed cost a bit more.

The cheapest here is 135 dollars a week, but it stinks! The next best are all min175$ and even they stink! kids will pee on carpets, no daycare can avoid that. They do their best to cleanup, but only few can manage the pressure!

you may want to check into your local welfare office for child care assistance. I know they pay a percentage of it based on income.

Interesting ill have to look into that. I haven't even looked into wic because I'm worried I make too much to qualify for assistance but my room mate suggested I try that too.

You truly have to have a 6-figure income to afford day care!

About $200/week or $800+ per month is pretty par for the course here. Our day care was $37/day for infants, then it drops to $34/day once they can move into the toddler room. And you provide ALL materials/supplies for infant. Once they are toddlers, they actually provide breakfast and lunch.

And this is not in a metropolitan area. It is suburban. Our friends in NYC pay $600+ a week for their 2 kids - almost $2,500 a month!

    Good luck. It's tough.

Yea it definitely gets expensive. This is why we chose or me to stay home after we had to second one. (I was already staying home from the time DS1 was 18 months...) but when I had DS2, it was better to keep staying home....If I worked, most if not all of my paycheck would go straight to daycare, so it wasn't worth it to us.

Ours is $265/week for an infant. My DS is in the 2nd toddler room now so it has gone down and we "only" pay $1055/month (not sure what it breaks down to weekly). The in home daycares are much less expensive here -- $25-35/day for the ones I have heard of. We are thinking of going that route when we have #2 because otherwise it will be about $25,000/year to put 2 kids in daycare.
