    Default 8 week ultrasound?

So when I called to make my first appt I was surprised to hear that it was at 8 weeks as with DD my first appt was at 12 weeks. She casually mentioned towards the end that DH might want to be there for the first ultrasound. I was super suprised that they would have one so early. I didn't have any with DD.

Do you all plan to have one early or have you already? I'm kind of nervous about it. I think I will have it but am not 100%. My girlfriends say that the doc will want to because of the bleeding issues I had the past few weeks. My appointment is tomorrow morning. Now that I'm thinking about it... I don't even know if insurance covers it.

I'm not planning on having any u/s unless medically necessary, but that's just my preference. Even so 8 weeks does sound early to me. I would talk to your doc and find out exactly why she's doing one and how many she plans on doing. Don't feel like you have to have one if you're not comfortable.

My OB does an ultrasound between 8 and 10 weeks to verify the due date.

8 weeks is pretty standard to check for viability and dating.

I agree. I had one at 6 weeks and will have one at 8 weeks but mine is cause of my history. Though wih your bleeding I can see why they would want to doone

8 weeks ultrasounds are perfectly normal, and it's a good time as you can usually see a HB at this stage. Good luck hun xx

Home from my apointment. Had an ultrasound and everything looks good. One baby Measured exactly 8 weeks 2 days, same as my lmp, so I get to keep the due date I had already attached to Dr. wasn't concerned with the bleeding I described and said I might have a little pain or twinges on my right side from a cyst, slightly larger than average. That gave me peace of mind on the twinges I have been having. I'm so glad I got it, we need some extra peace of mind this time around.

I might have to start letting myself get a little excited.
