    Default Had my OB appt today...

    We just left our OB office and my Dr scanned me as I hoped she would. I'm officially definitely having a little girl!!! It's been confirmed three times now. I think I can stop obsessing over it!!! I am so thrilled and over the moon that after having three wonderful boys, I'm finally getting my daughter. Everything looks good, her heart and other anatomy that Dr pointed out. I had my AFP blood test done today and next appt isn't until January 3rd and we will schedule my anatomy scan at that time.

    BUT, I'm heartbroken and don't know how to deal with my Husband who is sad, disappointed, and not excited at all. I want to cry!!! When we had ds3 and I was told girl in the beginning and confirmed boy at elective scan at 18 weeks we were both devastated, although he handled it a lot better than me, but was still disappointed we were having a boy. Somedays even though I was grieving that little girl I thought I was carrying I found myself comforting him and reassuring him it was going to be ok. I have no idea why the change if heart. I've been hearing that he wants a boy for the last 4 weeks or so and I don't know what to do. At first I thought it was because he didn't want to be GD again, but today he said he wanted a brother for ds3 that was closer in age and because we already have all boy stuff a boy would've been easier. Makes me want to cry.

    Any advice on how to handle a husband with GD? I seriously feel so guilty being so excited.

    Thanks for listening ladies, it feels better so type it out.

    It sounds like he's just protecting himself not to be disappointed again, this is normal given how bad it was with your third thinking he was a girl, just give it time, he will get exited and this little girl is going to steal his heart in no time!!! Congrats again!!!

    sorry...what is GD? My hubby was disappointed my second was a boy, but has a soft spot for him now....and this one, it didn't bother him as much. I cried and cried though...they had to stop the scan for a few minutes so I could calm down. I'm sure he'll come around. I have.

    Thanks!!

    GD= gender disappointment

    Kelly, when I heard my 3rd was a boy I also cried so hard they had to stop my scan... The poor tech felt so bad for me. I know he'll come around its just awkward right now.

    I agree with the others, he will change when he sees her! In the meanwhile, let it sink in! Let him absorb it! In time he will realize!

    I am really nervous about my boyfriend being disappointed too if we are having a girl. I will be a little disappointed, but happy as long as she is healthy. I know things would change as soon as she was born.

    Don't worry, she will have him wrapped around her little finger!

    Congrats again!
    I wonder if your DH is just scared of the unknown. I would love to have a daughter, but I am a lot more intimidated at the thought of having a girl than having another boy. I feel like I "know" what to do with boys, and a daughter would be unknown territory.
    Either way, I agree with everyone else that he will be in love!!!

    i think once the time comes he will get over it....he has three boys and now a little girl who will be protected 100% all the way. And it should be an extra special gift to him bc its "Daddy's little girl" literally! noone can take her place! (unless you get prego again lol)

    Lol!!! I'd love another baby... I don't think I will ever truly feel "done", but my luck my DH would say we could try again and I'd end up having twins. Totally runs in my family.

    He'll come around. Men have "off" days too...maybe he was hormonal??? I agree with pp - he'll have her wrapped around his finger!!! Hang in there - we all process things differently. Plus, I always think it is hard for men to process the pregnancy...they always take so much longer since it isn't them carrying the baby - but it is their baby, kwim???
