We bought and discarded 3 name books, searched the internet night and day like red bull chugging college kids, and asked every parent we met -'what's your little girl's name?' Yeah, we were those creepy people.
But now I am so pleased to announce that my husband named our one and only daughter!
On the way back from Thanksgiving in Missouri he had this whole spiel prepared on why he wants to name her something that has substance for him, a name he already associates with someone he loved. He wanted to transfer all those good vibes to her. So sweet. So he asked, (like he thought I was going to hate the idea or something!) if we could consider naming her Dorothy after his beloved grandmother.
Have you ever had one of those heart squeeze moments where you just *know* something is perfectly right, like it was always supposed to be that way? It was that kind of moment. I told him I loved it and couldn't believe we hadn't thought of it before now, I was already crying cause I'm pregnant and of course I cry over everything. Then HE started crying!!! Talk about a rare moment. Beautiful.
So ladies of my pregnancy birth month group, I invite you to join in our joy!! This squirmy bundle of love inside of me will be named Dorothy Joan Loretta after her 3 great-grandmothers who made all the difference in our lives. If she is half as lovely as they were she will be a pleasure to share a home with.

I am a little partial to Dorothy and Dottie as well because it was my precious Mother-in-Law's name!
She was Dorothy Jean though.
