    Default Bloodwork...

Dr's office phoned this morning to tell me i have to repeat my first set of bloodwork tmw morning fasting!

My glucose was elevated (i have been a borderline diabetic in the past but my sugars have been well under control lately)! My thyroid was low and so was my B12! I was treated for hyperthyroidism late last year into this year and was off medication and back to normal!

What im really worried at this point about is my glucose... When i was hyperthyroid it brought my sugars down super low... And for those to be high and my thyroid to be low... Must be really out of whack!

Im also almost completely symptom free so im going to beg if i have to on monday (my next appt) for another ultrasound to check in... After my loss this summer im just super anxious!

Oh Nat, I'm sorry! Did you repeat the bloodwork today?

My bloodwork came back and my thyroid level was high. I've had hypothyroidism since I was 12...nearly everyone on my mom's side of the family has it, although I'm the lucky one out of my sisters and I to have it! My OB tends to follow my thyroid and keep it much more vigilantly watched than my primary, which I get frustrated at.

If they are repeating your bloodwork, they should definitely repeat the u/s...IMHO! (Hee hee) good luck. I hope everything is ok, but at least it is something manageable to take care of????

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism after my last DS was born (about 8 months after) and took medication for 6-7 months and then was weened off and my thyroid numbers have been good since -- they told me though to get it checked every 3-4 months and DEFINATELY if I got pregnant. I know the medication I was on wasn't compatible with pregnancy (something about birth defects it could cause in the second or third trimester) but that they could put me on a different medication if I got pregnant.

So hoping that the nurse practioner at my Dr's office that I've been seeing will finally give me my referral to my OB and then he'll get me into high risk as usual (I normally land there before 12 weeks). I asked about another ultrasound yesterday on the phone and all she would say was that we could talk about it when I see her MOnday! Oh well....

If your thyroid is low, the medication to counteract that is perfectly safe during pregnancy. I've been on Synthroid for years. They always have to raise it when I'm pregnant. Hopefully you can keep your glucose in check with diet, which is what I'm doing at the moment too. My endocrinologist says the last few weeks of my pregnancy I'll probably be on insulin, though. Mine is only due to pregnancy, though.

Good luck!! Hopefully your numbers were just a fluke.

I've been a borderline diabetic for a 4-5 yrs now...

During pregnancy they just treat me as a diabetic... I generally control my sugars with diet quite nicely -- but normally have to take a very small quantity of insulin at bedtime for my morning numbers!!

Just want to get things under control asap
