    Default Weight gain

Just curious to see how everyone's been on weight gain....not being judgmental or anything. I'm just curious.

I started off the pregnancy at 158 and lost weight during the 1st tri, down to 150 actually. I know especially now being in the 2nd trimester I'm suppose to gain around a pound a week. But it seems that not only have I not gained any but might actually still be losing?? I know weight varies but theirs been days where its been down to 148. Most days its still 149/150. This has been since around I'd say 9/10 weeks along.

Should I be starting to get a little concerned? I know I'm starting to show, and with my daughter it was the opposite..I had a steady weight gain but wasn't showing until around 6 1/2 months.

    Overactive thyroid possibly?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Ladies!

I was wondering the same thing about everyone else.

I am not that familiar with thyriods.... I would ask my doc. But, I do know it is normal not gain that much in the 1st trimester.

With DS#1 and DS#2, at this point I wasn't showing and I didn't gain any weight. But I was working out every day. (Wish I was now!)

This time, I didn't gain anything for a while. I was so sick, nothing would stay down. I was 100 pounds each visit. (I am only 5ft 3in) After 12 weeks, my m/s was still there but not as strong. I could maintain it more by eatting pasta with no sauce and bread. So at my last apt I gained 4 pounds in two weeks. I hope all this bread and pasta doesn't consume me.

I gained 10 lbs from fertility treatments which was there by the time I took my + test. But since then I have gained nothing despite the fact that I look about 2 months further along than I did at this point in my last pregnancy. I'm still trying to figure that out!

I feel a little heavier than I should. I started at 200. I was 206 at 13 weeks. Right after thanksgiving and a ton of birthday cake! I havent weighed since then but my tummy seems to be growing upward a bit and out a bit. It is hard to tell if my baby bump is really there or not. Being overweight to start out, I already had a little tummy. And my body is that goofy B shape. Does this even answer the original question? Sorry to babble on. I didnt have any real morning sickness so I didnt lose any weight.

I started out about 10lbs heavier this time than last, but am gaining weight WAY slower this time! I've gained 5 lbs so far. I'm hoping not to have the same weight gain as I did the last time... I has worse nausea last time that only seemed to go away when I ate. This time my appetite and nausea are under somewhat better control. Weight gain concerns me though...I'm exercising more this time (yoga) than last time too!!!

I wish I was working out more Babykenny. Everytime I get on an elliptical, I want to . I was just talking to DH about Yoga and Pilates. I took classes when pg with DS#2 and LOVED it!!! Are you taking classes or are you doing it at home?

I am feeling like motivation would be a good thing for me right now. Maybe I will have more energy after finals?

Weight gain is different for everyone.. and every baby I think. This is my 3rd and I've only gained 2 lbs. With my first I gained SUPER slow but I started out at like 180 so I was pretty heavy. I didn't even start showing until I was about 24W int otal I only gained 12lbs with that pregnancy

With my second I started out at about 170 I started gaining immediately and showing right away I ate everything in sight lol I gained 32lbs with that pregnancy and ended up over 200lbs.. I was so depressed with myself.

This time I was REALLY really sick and have had thyroid problems (slow thyroid though) I'm nauseous all the time, have no real appetite just constant thirst and exhaustion. I lost 10lbs with my hyper emesis early on and I'm only 1-2lbs up from my original 7W weight.. so technically I've gained 12lbs.

I'm HUGE right now but it's all belly. I haven't even gotten any new stretch marks like I normally do at this point my hips started getting them with both boys before I have nothing.

Don't stress about weight gain, your body will do what it needs to do. As long as it's not excessive and caused by unhealthy choices or by GD you're fine! Try to make healthy choices and don't limit yourself because you're concerned with weight gain.. you're growing a human and your body needs to worry about that.. not the number on a scale! If you're NOT gaining it's okay too as long as you know you're doing your best to eat right and not limiting yourself.. If you feel like you are or trying to excersise for weight loss or control you should really speak with your doctor you may be starting to eek into depression and could use some advice from a proffessional. If you're excersising for comfort of movement (yoga/pilates/walking) GOOD FOR YOU it really does help make pregnancy more comfortable and gives you energy!

My appetite is just getting back on track from all the weeks of morning sickness, and certain things like meat still make me queasy. (I've been trying to replace the protein with nuts, and such) But I haven't limited myself.

You ladies are right though, every pregnancy is different and my belly is growing which means baby is growing and that's all that counts! The scales will catch up.

I have to admit that exercise in this pregnancy hasn't been anything past daily tasks!! I need to get the ball rolling with that one. Maybe a Pilates during pregnancy DVD or something? I need ideas because majority of my workout before were all core exercises. (Fav. was hip-hop abs!) LOL. The nurse practitioner told me not to do anything with my stomach even if it wasn't on my back because my muscles are trying to push out, and I'll be trying to keep them in so it will confuse them?? Never heard that one before, but Dr's orders!

LOL I totally understand core cravings! I was big on Jillian Michaels.. I actually just bought the 6pack abs and it was delivered the day I got my BFP. I miss it!

I've been getting on Youtube for pregnancy workouts and enjoying what I find there. I don't really want to invest in any dvds for prego workouts since this is my last baby and I won't use them anymore. Check out MomsIntoFitness they have some cool workouts to include babies and older toddlers too. I find a lot of her stuff on Youtube as well, even though they are only a couple minutes at a time it's okay but you can purchase her DVDs.. but at least you can check her out first.

Colleen Riddle is another one I've done on Youtube and she does workouts for each trimester.
