    Default melatonin ok?

I have been taking a B6 each day, idk how much it has helped with the nausea. I have had it horrible along with awful heartburn so far the past 2 weeks or so. Also have not slept great and if I wake up in the middle of the night I am screwed because it is soooo hard to get back to sleep. I picked up some of the natural Unisom, it has B6, Calcium, and Melatonin. I have taken Melatonin before without issue and I feel like it would be safe to take, what do you ladies think?

I don't think it would hurt, but just to be safe I'd just put a call into your OB.

This is what I found out about melatonin when you're pregnant:
    "Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Melatonin supplementation should be avoided in women who are pregnant or attempting to become pregnant, based on possible hormonal effects. High levels of melatonin during pregnancy may increase the risk of developmental disorders. In animal studies, melatonin was detected in breast milk and therefore should be avoided during breastfeeding. In men, decreased sperm motility and decreased sperm count are reported with the use of melatonin.
    "

    And this:
"Hormonal effects have been reported, including decreases or increases in levels of luteinizing hormone, progesterone, estradiol, thyroid hormone (T4 and T3), growth hormone, prolactin, cortisol, oxytocin, and vasopressin"

I talked to my OB friend and she said small amounts is ok. But I would still talk to your Dr to make sure you take the appropriate dosage.

I've actually seen Melatonin prescribed to pregnant women during the 20th weeks that's why I didn't think it would be an issue. But I apparently if the dose is too high you can have problems.

I was always told no with melatonin. You can take unisom tablets though. Doxylamine succinate. It's also good for nausea in pregnancy.
