    Default Weight loss

I have lost 6lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight. I lost 5lbs early on but then I stayed at that weight for a couple weeks. Then I went up 3.5 lbs but lost that as well. I have MS but it's not like I cannot keep anything down. I have only really thrown up 4-5 times. I just have a very small appetite. If I overeat, I get sick. I eat small meals and several snacks all day. Do you think it's concerning? Like I said, I am not throwing up so I thought I was ok until I weighed myself.

I've lost 12 lbs, but I've been super sick. My doc is a little concerned but she said it will all even out most likely there is nothing that can really be looked at this early sincce the baby has no real weight to it. As long as I gain later on, and if not she will just have to monitor with more regular US to make sure there is no growth restriction. She said some women just don't gain much, everyone is different. She made me do a food intake diary and it was surprising to see how little I really took in and when we took into account me getting sick there just wasn't much nutrition.. so now I drink a meal replacer (Ensure) it sits really well and she upped my Zolfran which has made a huge difference.

You should be heading out of the worst of the MS and probably start gaining steady! I wouldn't stress to much things will get better.. and then at the end they will be like this again lol

With Jax I was down 11lbs by 6 weeks starting at a overweight BMI (by like 2lbs! Those things are stupid I swear!!) they were very concerned because I was losing weight because I couldn't even hold water down and they put me in the hospital. With this pregnancy. I started at a normal BMI and expected to pick up weight faster as long as I wasn't sick. I have maybe been sick 2-3 times in almost 12 weeks and I haven't gained anything. I gain 1-3lbs and then I lose it and it goes back and forth. I was told that as long as I was eating what I could and staying hydrated that the baby would take what it needed from me. The only downfall is that if I wasn't taking in enough that this process would make me feel awful!! Of course she encouraged me to eat as much as I felt like I could without over eating but what she said eased my mind. She wasn't concerned at my 9 week checkup but told me that she would start to monitor me closer if I hadn't gained anything by the 16th.

Like she said though. Everyone is different. Whether we start off at a normal weight, underweight, or over weight there is no right or wrong way to gain weight with pregnancy. All of our bodies handle these changes differently. Your weight gain will pick up in the second trimester I'm sure. I started feeling better around 14 weeks with Jax and my weight gain started to pick up. A friend of mine only gained 13lbs during her pregnancy and she didn't start gaining until week 31 (which just amazes me!!)
