    Default drying up milk

Ladies my SIL has weaned her 12 month old but she's still super engorged. She is wondering how to dry up your milk and the fastest way possible. I know cabage leafs and antihistamines. What have you all tried that has worked? I never had a problem when Preston weaned I never got engorged.

I'm pretty sure it's decongestants not antihistamines. Honestly, it took me over 6 months to completely dry up.

I was feeling better after about a week with my second. He gradually weened and I didn't do anything special except for applying cold for pain control. How long as she been engorged?
Jessica (32) and Ryan (31). Madelyn born August 5, 2009 and Malachi born December 23, 2010. Lost a loved baby 02/29/12, 05/14/12 and 07/05/12 all due a serious allergic reaction to fabric softener.

I'm not sure, I know that he weaned probably within the week. I thought antihistamines also dried up milk? Like any allergy meds. I told her to take suddafed though.

Also tell her to avoid having a lot of sweets. I haven't nursed my DD for over 3 weeks, maybe even a month. Earlier this week we made a little monkey bread and I ate some--- the next morning I woke up in soooo much pain from being engorged My kid is 3 1/2yrs old and was only nursing once/twice a day and sugar had that effect on me! Crazy!!

I would use an allergy med with a D. Like Allegra D. And I second the sweets and stuff like gatorade. Gatorade would make me super engorged. It just takes a while unfortunately. She could hand express a little in the shower if it gets too bad.
