How did your appt go? You can't leave us hanging!!!
Oh, sorry! I forgot! It went ok, nothing much to really report. I was poked and prodded, felt up. The usual. But I have an u/s appointment for today & I'm really nervous about it. I had a mc last year & didn't expect it. So now I'm the total opposite & can't think of anything else. I'm trying to be optimistic, but I can't sleep at night worrying. Its a sickness. I just can't wait for 1pm to know either way.
Lisa, I am the same as you, it's all I think about. I still take a digital pregnancy test every 3 days, so I can monitor how long it takes for the "Pregnant" announcement. (Kind of like monitoring blood levels at doc, but way less scientific. I count how many times the hourglass blinks before announcing Pregnant. If it takes longer for the "Pregnant", your levels are lower, faster, your levels are higher) I wish I could relax, but until you pass the point you made it before, it really can haunt you. Hugs!!!

Yes, it's expensive, but it's the only way I can feel at ease. I was actually doing it every day, but knowing my hcg increase was slowing down and peaking soon, I talked myself off the ledge to every 3-4 days. It absolutely works that way, although you can't get super intense if it's off by 2-3 beeps, since it could be that you drank more/less water, etc. But just like regular tests that the lines get progressively darker when your hcg goes up, the digitals pop up faster with higher levels. I have found absolutely no evidence of this. Just personal experience with 3 pregnancies.
In my first, like most people, I took just a couple tests, and went on my merry way. When I miscarried, it was missed. (Baby stopped growing, body didn't expel the tissue.) So when I discovered it 3 weeks later, I had to have a D&C. After the procedure, I took a pregnancy test every couple days and watched it take longer and longer to show Pregnant as my levels dropped. Until finally one day, after like 2 weeks of slower and slower Pregnancy results, it said Not Pregnant.
With my 2nd pregnancy (successful) I had hcg drawn at doc office, but I still took a few test after that to make sure Positive came faster and faster.
Now with my 3rd, I've been obsessed. I've seen it go from taking about 90 seconds (I call it seconds, but it was 90 hourglass blinks) a couple weeks ago, then 80+, then 70+, now consistenly 59. I DO believe it won't really get faster than that, seems like that's the fastest it can really do it, and I also believe my levels have pretty much peaked at this point.
Definitely not anything that can be used to diagnose, but it has helped me feel like things are ok for now. It's 7 days from now I will be a wreck and need to see a heartbeat.
Yes, we have a lot in common! :-) Good luck to you today!!!!

Good luck - And I wouldn't get too concerned about the number of blinks, more that in a few days you get the same or less blinks, KWIM? (Just like all kinds of hcg levels are normal, all that matters is going in the right direction...)
Yes, I had a dating ultrasound, a week and a half ago, as this little one was a surprise and I had no clue when my last period was.... I saw a heartbeat at that time, but as nice as that is, it doesn't calm me until I get to 8w4d. My first pregnancy, I had u/s at 8 weeks, saw heartbeat, and the poor little guy gave up 4 days later. I think that for most pregnancies, seeing the heartbeat is incredibly reassuring, and miscarriage rates go way down, but when it's a chromosome problem as my first was (had it tested) and at my age could be likely again, it is common to have heartbeat and then stop growing around 8 weeks.
I keep considering deleting this message because I don't want to seem like Debbie Downer, or make anyone not feel reassurance when they see that heartbeat, because it is VERY good news and promising, and should indicate things will be just fine. Just that my experience, likely because of my age, was a little different, so I have to stay crazy a little longer. :-)

Wow, another thing in common. Well step one is a good ultrasound today, and then we get to continue on until we get past that dreaded milestone. Hang in there!!! How old are you?

I know exactly how you feel. My little guy made it to 17 weeks and then was gone. I had all testing done and was left with not 1 answer as to why it happened. He looked perfect too. Like I've said before, there is no safety zone with pg. I won't be happy until I hold my breathing, bundle of joy in my arms.
That is SO HEARTBREAKING and terrifying. I'm so so so sorry this happened to you, your baby, and your family. And I am so obsessed with "answers", needing to know the "why" in everything, (i.e. having the tissue tested after miscarriage) that I can't imagine how it feels that you don't have any reason as to what happened. So incredibly sad.

Still at the dr for an appointment with the nurse. She's going to tell me what I'm not supposed to eat and stuff. But the us did show a hb of 114. Is that normal?
Congratulations!! Sounds normal. Mine was 118 at 6 weeks. What did you measure? The heartbeat increases a little each day after it begins beating until it maxes out around 8 weeks and then goes down a little to 130-170's for most babies. This baby has been in the 130-150 range the last few weeks.
Yay!!!!!
