    Default Cornual Pregnancy

I was told at my u/s appt today that I possibly have this. I've been sent to a MFM to get his opinion. I am scared to death. Have ANY of y'all ever heard of this or had this? Any success stories? Everything I've read so far online is bad, bad, bad.

I had never heard of it but just looked it up. I hope you get good news from the MFM. When is your appointment?

I didn't want to read without responding, but I have no experience. Thinking of you, and wishing you the best. Try not to google too much! Kup.

Thanks ladies. My appt is Tues at 10:30am. I know I shouldn't Google all this, but it's so darn hard not to when the computer and phone are just sitting there.

So the definition I found is: cornual pregnancy occurs when implantation happens in one of the horns of a bicornuate uterus.

Do you know that you have a bicornuate uterus? Otherwise I read some things that would lead you to believe that implantation occurred outside the uterus. It's probably good that they've sent you to MFM to find out more...better than hearing, "it's ectopic, lets discuss termination options." Maybe someone else knows more.

Anyway, hoping for the best from your appointment.

Yes. I was told I have a bicornuate uterus about 3 years ago. I just pray my Dr is wrong but it sure does explain my cramping and spotting constantly.

I just remembered, my aunty had something kind of like this. She didn't have a bicornate uterus, but her uterus wasn't properly formed and was essentially like one of the "horns" of a bicornte uterus. She did have some fertility problems, but she had a successful pregnancy with my cousin who was born only a tad early. (And is now a doctor herself actually. This all happened before I was born.) Hope that hearing a positive story is helpul. All the best!

how severe are your horns? like the shape of your uterus? mine is bicornuate but is more heart shaped that actual horns. That being said I have had all preemies. My first was born at 30 weeks, I ruptured at 29. My 2nd was 35 weeks but due to the cord being wrapped around her neck, body and arms. I wasnt actually in labor she wasnt kicking so I went in. Im currently pregnant with my 3rd and am 34 weeks. Im on mod bedrest and nifedipine for contractions. This may all sound bad, but all my outcomes so far have been JUST FINE. They actually didnt know I had a heart shaped uterus until this pregnancy. I never needed an early u/s except for this pregnancy, which is when I had some bleeding. Thats when they noticed it, when you are farther along your uterus is to stretched to see the horns sometimes. With my 2nd and 3rd I took/am taking 17P progesterone shots, it helps prevent preterm labor, which I believe has helped me out with my 2 pregnancies. My advice be closely watched, try to push for cervical length checks and the shots. I know Insurance sometimes wont cover the shots unless you have already had a preemie, so that might not be an option for you. But cervical length checks really help docs know where you are at and can help prevent an early delivery. I hope this helped some, I never had any fertility problems, my 3rd took 6 months to conceive, but my other 2 pregnancy maybe 2-3 months. My 3rd pregnancy was the only one where I had bleeding and as I said before Im currently 34 weeks so made it out of the 1st trimester just fine. Good luck and KUP!

I currently use progesterone suppositories , 200 mg a day. My Dr said by his u/s, it lots like the baby implanted right on the opening where my tube joins the uterus. He said a Cornual pg is a type of ectopic pg. So if that's the case, they will have to remove the pregnancy. If it isn't removed, I can/will rupture and it will be life threatening for me. I just pray the MFM s u/s are better and he can tell me the baby is far enough away from the tube for us to be ok.

I don't know anything about this, but it certainly sounds scary. I hope that you get better news on Tuesday!
