Are you still avoiding Made In China?
I still try really hard although I've made some exceptions for Savana and Kai when they want some plastics like water toys and trucks and such. Generally the only made in china plastics we have are things that have been gifted to us.
Now I'm looking for a new dish set and having a really hard time finding anything affordable that's not made in china. I've been regularly going to goodwill and St.Vinney's to see if I can find some Italy made dishes in good shape but am not having any luck so far. I noticed Corelle is now made in china too and I thought they were made in the usa.
Anyway, it's been a spell since the whole China-lead scare so I was curious if people phased back into China made products or if your still avoiding it as best you can. It sucks it's so hard!
I wish I was more strict about avoiding all made in china plastic junk. But no, our house is full of those although I am trying hard to avoid them. My Dh is a repeat offender and DS1 is obsessed about super heroes most of which are made in china. So it is a losing battle here.
I have a dollar store literally around the corner that we're *always* at, so I try hard to be mindful of it. They sell some plastic storage things made in USA so I buy those unless I absolutely must have the China made storage basket. I see that they have many USA made glass products, I like that. If I buy plastic food storage stuff there (like after R's party when we had a TON of leftovers) I'll opt for the stuff made in Mexico over China just because it's closer to us geographically... and I'm part Mexican so there's that, lol. Overall I try to check the labels, I don't always (ahhh mindless shopping...), but I make far more of a constant effort than any other time in the last 3 years. Honestly, I never even thought to check labels at the dollar store until an elderly lady mentioned to me she only buys usa from there.
Another good place for USA plastics is Target, they carry Sterilite brand under their home brand (RE, Room Essentials), which is made here.
For non China glassware I've had pretty good luck at the discount home stores like Ross, Marshalls, etc.
Still avoiding made in China here too. We have Fiesta dishes and love them. I also have some dishes made in Germany and Portugal that I picked up at either TJMaxx or Marshalls for cheap--if you live near either of those stores they are worth checking out.
Yes, as much as possible. I know that there are still Corelle dish sets Made In USA. I have seen them in Walmart.
You really have to read everything and shop around. Or online.
