    Default Hi

hello ladies! It's taken me a bit, but I think I need to post in here and would love to talk with others that are in the same boat. DH and I have been TTC #3 for about 8 months, and it took me 5 of the 8 to stop denying the fact that clearly something was wrong with my cycle. Fast forward to LPD (I've started spotting as early as 3dpo and had a blood progesterone level of 9.5) and progesterone supplements 2x/day. We also just moved at the end of June so I had to leave my OB in the midst of all this, although we were somehow fortunate enough to get an appt with a RE set up at the Mayo Clinic for Aug. 8th.
Sorry for all my rambling! I think I'm still in denial and am just "sure" I will get pregnant this cycle before the RE appt. I'd love to hear some insight on the initial RE appt. I really have no idea what to expect. Thanks!

Welcome and I am sorry you are having troubles getting pregnant. My initial visit with the RE was mostly discussing what steps we had already taken and setting up a game plan as far as initial testing they wanted done before beginning any medication or procedures. They wanted me to have an HSG done to be sure that my tubes were not blocked (I had actually already had this done so they went off of my results). Then we set up blood testing for my and DH, as well as a s/a for DH. Once they had all of that information, we were able to set up a game plan for our next steps.

The beginning stages with an RE can be a bit frustrating because it takes a couple of cycles to get the testing done and for them to gather all of the information they need, so as hard as it is, you will need to be patient in setting the groundwork. Good luck in your journey and I hope your BFP comes quickly for you!

welcome and I am sorry you are also on this frustrating STC road. My first RE appt was consultation/information based. Luckily my OB rocks and had already done all the labs and tests they required so I didn't have to wait for all that. We formulated a plan and he explained the "why" of the plan to me.

Hope you have a good appointment and KUP! Feel free to jump in the STC NET ( never ending thread ) and join our little group.

At my first appt with the RE, they did a bunch of bloodwork and an ultrasound, where I was diagnosed with PCOS. They also wanted a semen analysis from DH, and I had to get an HSG to make sure my tubes were clear. We did get started right away since I had already done two anovulatory cycles of Clomid (50 and 100mg), so he upped my dosage to 150mg and we did an IUI that first month after the testing came back clean. After that it was a bit of a struggle to determine which meds to use. We finally got pg with Follistim and IUI. That was 2 years ago, and now I am back again doing my first cycle of Follistim/IUI hoping to get pg with #2! I have not formally been diagnosed with LPD but my LP has been shorter than desired so I am also on the progesterone suppositories as well as an HCG boost.

Sorry you have to join this room, but I hope your stay is short! There is a lot of support here and these ladies are great. that you don't even have to go through with the RE appt! KUP and definitely join our NET thread!

Thanks everyone! I'm anxious to get this process started! So frustrating that our bodies just won't cooperate with us! I hope everyone gets their BFP quickly!

Hi and welcome. My first RE appt was similar to everyone elses. I know it can be stressful as well as heart breaking to have to see a RE but I think in some ways it relieves some stress. The journey can be exciting but we've had some road blocks along the way. I will say be sure to talk to your insurance and try to be as helpful as you can be. Don't be afraid to speak up at the Re's office as well,as insurance.Good luck!
