    Default Maternity clothes rant

Why are they do darn expensive???? I am too small for my old may clothes bc I lost a ton of weight before I got pregnant. I'm actually still able to wear my jeans w/ a rubber band but they are getting right. My shirts are either all too big or becoming too small bc of the growing bump. And all but two of my dresses are laughable right now. I work at Kohls and even wy discount coupons and kohls cash the maternity crap is still so expensive!!! I need to find time toget to good will and see what they have, it's just a matter of finding the time to get there alone w no kids!!! I can wash get away w buying regular tops and some dresses but pants are a no go and I going to need some soon. I'm just going nutso w wearing grubbed everywhere I o ad only having like 3 outfits to wear to work!!!!!!!

Have you tried Craigslist? It does suck. I've found some good stuff at the back of old navy from returns or clearance.

Yeah I have one pair of pants, maternity cargo pants I bought 3 years ago. Oh, yes almost forgot, a pair of old, hand-me-down, washed out yoga pants. Shirts I can still wear, and will wear most likely through out my pregnancy. I have only one work outfit. It's getting pretty washed out, but I'm leaving in two weeks, so no need for another outfit. The clothes are outrageously expensive. However, I will have to pull the cash out at an outlet mall back in CA, because, well, I need more than one pair of pants, not to mention those pants have two light stains that won't wash out. I have two dresses, one that I bought from Venus, non maternity but will totally work as a maternity one, and another dress at Walmart. The Walmart one will last me maybe until third tri. I won't have access to all my clothes in about a month, so maybe it's good only 10% of them I can wear

Try buying clothes that are a few sizes bigger than what you were wearing. My mom bought me some maternity clothes, but they are still pretty big on me. My underwear was rolling down and I was considering maternity underwear, but I just bought the next size up & they fit great.

Do you have a Ross nearby? That is my favorite clothing store. Great prices - makes it hard for me to shop anywhere else.

I would recommend splurging on at least one pair of maternity jeans. They are the most comfortable thing ever!

we have several kids consignment stores that have maternity clothes, they are usually in great shape since they aren't worn for long. If you have a once upon a child check there.

I think I'm gonna have to give in soon and do something about my jeans. I have to wear jeans for work, and they barely button, and then only if I do them low and let them roll down. *sigh* Thinking about sewing an elestic casing with button holes and a button, and then making a tube of knit fabric (like the "Trendy Tops") to cover myself. I like the idea of the belly bands, but I'm worried about something that tight in the heat.

I got one of the belly bands this week after realizing it was my jeans being too tight that was cauing side cramps. The one I got was from Target and isn't too tight (yet), but not the most comfortable thing either. I've been wearing it folded in half and it tends to roll when I sit down, so then has to be adjusted a lot. If I was standing all day, it would be great! But I still have 2 pairs of regular jeans that fit, so I'm gravitating towards those. Much to my disappointment, I realized this week that I got rid of almost all my maternity clothes after my last pregnancy Won't be long and I'll have to go shopping.

I got a lot of bigger sized stuff with my first pregnancy, yoga pants and lounge pants, and stretchy larger tops, at TJ Maxx. Also, the clearance racks at Old Navy and KMart have cheap clothes..... even though they may not be labeled maternity, stretchy stuff works fine for now. This can buy you some time to make it to Goodwill or to save up and spring for a couple of staple pieces to mix in with the larger regular clothes. I found an AWESOME pair of shorts at Old Navy in the swimsuit area, they're made out of that sundress material and they were $10 and came in tons of colors. Stretchy and look like maternity, and great for hot days since they breathe well. Anyone you can ask to borrow maternity stuff? Or do you have Freecycle in your area?
