Default Getting pregnant after giving birth?

My DH and I have a 7 week old daughter. I stopped pumping breastmilk at 6 weeks, therefore she is just on formula. Last Saturday, our daughter stayed the night at her grandparents (now that she's on formula and sleeping through the night). So DH and I went out for several drinks and came home and well...got reconnected (for the first time since birth). I'm not sure if he came inside of me, but as a precaution I went to the pharmacy and purchased the Plan B contraceptive and took it approximately 55 hours or so after sex. I've not had a period since giving birth, I'm sure that's due to breastfeeding at the beginning and then pumping until 6 weeks. Although the following Monday after having sex, I noticed bright red blood and passed a small "clot" while using the restroom, just as a wiped and then it was gone and I haven't seen blood since. I chalked that up to my body releasing it because of just having sex 36 hours prior. Before I was pregnant when I would get my period, I would be crampy and my lower back would be achy. I've been feeling that way for several days, but since I don't know when to expect my first period, I feel rather stressed. I have a Dr's appt in a couple weeks and my DH and I haven't had sex again since then, and I won't until I see the Dr because I'm extremely nervous. Just curious if anyone out there has had a similar situation and how it worked out for you. Thanks!

I don't know for sure when your period is going to be but, if you had unprotected sex there is anyways a chance of pregnant whether you are or are not breast feeding you could take a test and see what it says if its been longer than two weeks after having sex.

Thank you, I do understand that un-protected sex leads to pregnancy. I didn't have to be reminded.

I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant when I was 12 weeks post partum-no period had returned yet. Most women ovulate before their first period which is where the unexpected post-partum pregnancies tend to pop up. I hope things work out for you

Lots of women also have adverse reactions to the plan B pill. I've heard it can throw your cycles off for months after taking it.

Whew! After those period symptoms, it finally came yesterday! WooHoo! Can't wait for my Doctor's appointment next week to get back on the pill, guess DH is just going to have to suck it up, I'm not risking it anymore!
