Default Resource for medical needs, therapies, etc

Hey ladies. I wanted to pop in and make everyone aware of www.uhccf.org

They have $5,000/year, $10,000 lifetime max grants available. There is quite an application process and they have a list of specific things they do not approve for on their website but it's not super restrictive. They do have a max income limit ($100,000 for a family of 4 so it's a pretty generous limit) and you cannot be on any Medicaid programs or without insurance-you have to have a commercial insurance company denying coverage. I'm going through the process to cover Scharae's shoe inserts and possibly more intense bracing to try and avoid calf muscle lengthening surgery in the near future right now. It's a 1-3 month process to find out if you've recieved a grant. If you get approved and only use a portion of that $5k/year limit you can reapply for more until you've reached the limit-I'm hoping to be able to reapply as necessary for whenever she outgrows her orthotics.

Anyhow, I know so often we run into things being denied by insurance-or even just limited. I know people who have gotten more than the 12 or so allowed visit of speech therapy covered through this. Thought I'd pass it along

I love this. We are actually insured through United Healthcare and I have fought with them over Kevin's speech when he was below 3 and not covered through the school district. They eventually paid it but it was a hassle. It is good to know about this site.
