Default Happy Monday - Week of 9 July 2012

    Olo ladies!

Feeling BLAH! DH is in the field this week so he misses ANOTHER OB appt I hate the Army some days

Appt is tomorrow. 0840 so nice and early. And of course Isabella has a runny nose so I had to cancel my girlfriend that was supposed to watch her because I didn't want to share the cooties with her little one. So now I have a back up. Which I have to drive 25 minutes out of the way for

I have a lot to go over with the Dr.

    A. Should I be taking another vitamin other than the prenatal and extra folic acid since all I can eat is meat, salad, yogurt and cheese? I can't eat veggies at all Positive thing is I can't eat anything fried at all either...LOL

    B. Headaches - been getting some wicked ones. I need my Fioricet refilled and need to see if there is anything else they can check for it.

    C. Sleep - I need more! LOL Night sleep is soooo bad. Then I nap for 2-3 hours with Bella during the day.

    D. Being so tired. I am going to ask them to check my iron levels. I eat mostly meat - so my iron should be ok? I just want to make sure it is and that it's not anything besides my crappy sleep making me tired...LOL

    E. Not being able to eat. I can mostly eat what I listed above - but it's so hard! Yesterday I had 5 bites of pancake for breakfast. A small salad for lunch and maybe 6oz of steak and some red beans and rice for dinner. That's it. I was so very full the rest of the time. I am going to ask him his opinion on me drinking some Ensure or Boost for the calories and whatnot. If I can't eat my calories...maybe I need to drink them. Where I thought I finally gained a lb...I haven't

    F. GD results? Since I never got called on them? Assuming they are ok - then again this IS a military hospital...LOL

So lots to cover...and I can't take LO or I will never be able to talk to the Doc She tends to manipulate comversations now...LOL

So hopefully I'll have a good update tomorrow...and will feel a little better about the pregnancy.

OH!!! And it's LESS THAN 80 DEGREES RIGHT NOW! WAHOO! We've had 10 days over 100 degrees and we just had a nice storm pass through...we got a great downpour and cooler weather coming up in the next few days!

This past week has been pretty great for me! I feel great and i'm starting to look pregnant which is nice, because I think people just thought I was fat. I have an apt on wednesday. My husband surprised me and called today at work. It was amazing to hear his voice again, we got to talk for about 15 minutes!

I have been trying to decide on which pump to get for when I go back to work so any suggestions would be great! I am kinda lost and after days of research they all seem similar.

My mom and younger brother are coming to visit this week for about a month! I am so excited to have her around to help out with all the little things, and to have some good food!

As for the heat, it is 115 here today and tomorrow it will reach 116 with a low of 92. So my son and I are staying inside trying to keep cool. It's even too hot to go to the pool

12 weeks today! I thought it was tomorrow, but my ticker says today, and I'll take it! I have my NT scan on Wednesday morning. A bit nervous, well, a lot nervous, but if all goes well, we will tell the boys this weekend (husband is out of town all week, except coming back late Tues to go to the NT with me, then heading back out of town again), and this is definitely something we need to tell them together

Trying to come up with a creative pregnancy announcement for our long-distance family. We had been telling everyone that we were probably done (totally takes the pressure off), so this should be a BIG surprise! But my preggo brain is lacking creative insight. I actually didn't sleep well the other night b/c my head was so full of ideas - and do you think I can remember any of those now??? Nope. But looking forward to expanding my wardrobe beyond my 'flowy' shirts, once it's out there in the open, especially at work.

Feeling better, not nearly as nauseous - still comes from time to time, but overall, much better, so I'm not eating as much, and that makes me feel better too. After all my worry about gaining too much, to fast, I was only up 1.5lbs at my appt last week, so that was a relief. Still pretty tired, if I sit down at any time between noon and 8:00pm without a task at hand, I am destined to doze off. Especially if it involves watching golf or a baseball game

I feel for you ladies with husbands in the service - you are amazing, strong, women! My husband travels alot, but it's nothing compared to what you endure. Thank you!!

I'm off to get my 30 minutes on the eliptical, a shower, and straight to bed. DS1 is going to the Y for daycamp this week, which means earlier mornings for all of us On the plus side - our 100+ degree temps are gone!!! Mid 80s all week - such sweet relief!

First of all @ Elizabeth: Medela is the top brand of pumps, I have one and it's awesome! I got it as a hand-me-down and all I had to do was boil the tubes and breast cups, and buy new bottles. It does both boobs simultaneously which saves time, and it's very efficient. Took me about 20 minutes at work while I ate lunch and watched youtube locked in a windowless office.

We just got back from Jellystone last night! What a great trip! Got to get away with just the 3 (well 4) of us and get some much needed rest and sun and swimming. I ate lots of fire-cooked food.... I feel like sometime over the vacation I 1. got a HUGE appetite for EVERYTHING and 2. can now feel the top of my uterus bulging up toward the middle of my tummy, even while standing. It's not just my leftover pudge any more, it's actually BABY.

Boo's been moving a LOT too. Not only is it flutters (where I think the feet are, based on my recent u/s).... but a swoosh kind of like if you were to take your knuckle (second one up from the tip of your finger) and glide it along your skin.... that's what it feels like! So I don't know if it's Boo's hand/arm? I know that ossification takes place between 13-16 weeks, and I'm 15 weeks tomorrow . I feel like this baby is moving earlier than Sonja did, but then again I didn't write down when I started feeling her move.

Sonja's been a good girl lately except when she gets tired and wants to climb all over me, which involves elbows in my boobs and tummy. Ouch! She'll get it soon. We keep telling her that a tiny baby is in Mommy's tummy and she has to be gentle. She looks at me and I think she gets it, because she'll pet my tummy and say "nice," the word we use when she goes near our cat so she doesn't hit or grab .

Finally going to Old Navy this week to round out my summer maternity clothes. One of my friends has fall/winter stuff for me but I need some now! I only have a few pieces and I feel like I'm doing laundry constantly, and two of my dresses are hand wash and who has the time for that? Plus, Old Navy has that clearance section so I can't resist getting end-of-season deals on stuff for Sonja for next spring/summer in 3/4T. She's in the 100th percentile for her height, and she's already in some 3T pants even though she won't be 2.5 until October. Matt's almost 6' so I suppose she'll be taller than me (I'm 5'6") when she achieves adulthood. I assume I'll be back to shop for Boo once we know the sex

Overall, I'm feeling GREAT! Boobs are lumpy (Doc assured me it's milk ducts revving up) but not as sore, and I've been able to stay up consistently past dark now. All I have to do is go to the grocery more often!

Happy Baby appointment today! Both squishies all moving and happy And MOST uncooperative. They couldn't even get a solid read on HB's because they were moving so much...LOL

I gained a whopping....3 OUNCES! I talked to the Dr about all my issues and he was really awesome. He said they are right on target size wise and to not worry too much right now about not eating or gaining. He said my Prenatal was enough with the extra folic acid for the nutrition. Filled my headache script and checked my iron from last time and it was all good 3 weeks ago - so I didn't have him run it again. My GD was well within limits (like 100?).

The one MAJOR thing I forgot was to ask him about the darn sleep issues! Although last night I had a sleepy time tea and no nap and slept like a rock - except for having to get up to pee

So happy...so much more relaxed. Now I can start freaking out about something new...LOL~!

Oh he said right now I won't feel a lot - because they are hitting each other so much...HAHAHAAH!

I second what Leigh said about the Medala pumps. I had one with DS, it looked like a black briefcase and had a built-in cooler for the milk. Nobody knew what it was (they figured an extra briefcase) and it worked amazing! I pumped at lunch and during breaks. I couldn't do it with DD because she had allergies and ended up on soy formula (yuck!). I'm not sure what we'll do this time, because I don't like that my Synthroid will end up in the milk. I know it's supposed to be safe, but my little girl had so many issues that my son didn't have (he was born before I was on it).

Soooo...we're at 13 weeks finally, and the word has gotten out at work. There are 2 YOUNG girls there who are also pregnant (no comment)...but Jeff and I are older, we both work there (and everyone loves Jeff), they'd been bugging us forever about having a child of "our own", and we struggled to have this one. Maybe they're happy that a stable, adult couple that they know actually are having a planned child? I don't know...but if they don't like it, that's not my problem, it's theirs!

I'm still waiting on the result of the Downs/T18/T13 blood test. They said yesterday or today...

Morning/all day sickness is a little less now, but I find that if I don't take the Zofran in the afternoon i still get sick in the evening and it's not fun at all. I'm starting to look more pregnant (vs just fat) now, and that makes me feel a bit more comfortable with my appearance.

We drove a 10-hour round trip to take Mikey to the airport yesterday so he could fly to CA to spend a week with his father (my ex-husband). I miss him sooooo much

Smile Update on 1st Trimester Screening

    Update:
Dr called with the results. She said my Downs Syndrome was reduced to 1 in 584, and the T18 was reduced to 1 in 3281. She says that's what they were hoping for
I have to do a Spina Bifida blood test in 2 weeks, and then go for the anatomy scan with the fetal medicine specialist in August.

great news! All of this stuff is happening so quickly - exciting!

I got a call yesterday and the nurse said all of my blood tests were normal. Whew! Now just the glucose test and the anatomy scan next month. Yay!

I had an apt today. Everything looks great, and I only gained 1 pound! We scheduled my next apt for an ultrasound and to start the progesterone shots Aug. 8th!

I had my boring appointment today too! Nothing to report- so that is good! We heard the baby's HB- but since I have the Doppler I have been hearing it for a while. The nurse's was better than mine, so it was more clear. 170 BPM! We announced on facebook today. I baked some cinnamon rolls last week and printed a heart that said "See you in January 2013" and stuck it in the top on one of the rolls. I put that single bun in the oven & took a pic. That was fun!

I spoke to soon, back to exhausted and nauseous. Blah.

On the up side, we had our NT scan today, everything looks good, they will compare with my blood work from the MS1 and MS2 in a couple weeks for more details, but for now, relieved. Baby was sleeping when they started, but by the time we were done was moving all around. HB 155. Measuring at 13 weeks which would give us a 1/16 due date, but I don't know if they'll actually change my due date or not. I'll find out at my next appt, but that isn't until 8/6. It's funny b/c we were measuring small and got moved from 1/9 to 1/21, now back to 1/16 so all over the map, I guess. Just great to see the little peanut in so much detail, it's amazing every time. I guess I need to figure out how to post pics... maybe this weekend.

Thanks for the info on the pumps, I'll be needing to get one too. I borrowed one for my last, but need something a bit more efficient this time around
