how long for results?

I am going through the school district for an eval soon. If he qualifies, I have an IEP meeting already set for 7/31. I need to plan my July vacation around this eval, another class and the possible IEP meeting. Do you know how long it is before you find out the results after an eval typically? I never remember to call the guy during the day. I only remember at night when I am thinking about vacation.

I'm guessing you'll find out at the IEP meeting. We give official results in the second meeting, and we sometimes combine that with the IEP. Sometimes we'll tell a parent informally what we think during the eval appointment, but only if it's obvious and there is no possibility we will change our minds. Even when we do that, official results happen in person at a formal meeting (even if they don't qualify, we still meet and discuss what happened).

By law they have 60 days to get the results to you. We try very hard to get everything done in two weeks. Can't say for other districts, though.

I thought the point of the IEP was to determine their final decision?

Mine was only for speech but about a week or 2 after the eval the SLP called with the results of her scoring. DD only scored low for articulation and the other 2 tests were above average. She said she was planning to recommend services based on that and that they "always follow what she recommends".

We had the meeting but she wasn't even there. Still DD qualified for speech 2xs/week. I didn't trust she would until the meeting though....
