Default Night nursing suddenly very uncomfortable

Sawyer (17mos) still nurses several times a night for long stretches. I've always been able to just fall back asleep once he starts and he eventually unlatches on his own. Lately though, the past week or so, I wake back up and have this very ugly feeling like I reeeeally need him to stop nursing (for the moment, not forever). It's seriously like he's sucking out my insides! lol that sounds crazy. It's like my skin is crawling. Do you think this means I'm losing my milk? I haven't even considered weaning and don't have negative feelings about waking up at night with him or nursing him during the day so it's not mental, purely physical. Anyone experience this?

I have definitely had nights like that. It's so weird, like it gives me the heebie jeebies when otherwise I barely notice. I've never been able to figure out what causes it. Although I will say it was 100x worse when I was pregnant, could that be a possibility? I do get it now on occasion as well and I'm definitely not pregnant and am not losing my milk (I still pump 2x a day at work, so I am able to monitor my production very closely). Hugs mama!

I also got that while pregnant, but it was much more of a pain sensation and it was every time that my DD nursed.

I had that sensation when my milk finally dried up at 30 months.

I get that some nights.. I am not sure why, but I feel like I might jump out of my skin if I don't get some space.. Hopefully it passes for you.

I had that before too and I wasn't pregnant or having supply problems. It happened bc either he wasn't latched well or typically bc he was nursing " too long" and so I was waking up. This would happen typically if his tummy was upset, he was teething, developmental change, etc...

I've been dealing with some nursing aversion for a while now. Looking into it most women say they have these issues when pregnant again (when was your last period?), but that's not the case with me. I really haven't found there's anything that helps me through it, I just end up biting my cheek or digging my nails into the palms of my hands-- I guess trying to give myself another sensation to pay attention to?- and then try to take deep breaths until the bad feelings pass. It does help too just to talk about it and acknowledge the feelings rather than try to ignore them.

I've had that happen and it's usually related to hormones. Cycle coming back, ovulating, pregnant...plenty of options.

I'd guess your milk drying up/pregnancy as well although I'm sure there are other explanations.

I get it some times too, even with dd who is only 9m and so far it hasn't been a decrease of supply, pregnancy or cycle related as none of that has happened yet! I think it has to do with her latch when she starts to fall asleep. I think it happens more when she wants to nurse all night. Like when she wakes at 2 hungry, and I wake up at 5 and she's still latched on sucking but not really nursing.
