    Default cycle after d&c?

For those of you that had a m/c then had to have a d&c how long did it take for your cycle to come back? I lost my precious Emily 7 weeks ago and still haven't gotten my cycle! I was 8 weeks along at the time.. IDK when to expect my cycle.. I am kinda nervous..

I hope that someone chimes in! I've only miscarried naturally.

I am so sorry that you had to go through this.

I had a D&C but I started my BCP right after to regulate my cycle. I know some women can take months to regulate without the BCP. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thanks for your responses... I did talk to my OB today.. who said "since you didn't have your cycle.. did you take a pregnancy test?" I told him no that I hadn't and then he said if I don't get my cycle next week to take a test... regardless of the result to go and talk to him and take a HCG level and then consider trying again (if I am not already pregnant).. with Clomid since I am having some fertility issuess.. I can't tell you how nervous I am.. DH didn't want to get pregnant for a long time since we just lost our baby.. I am nervous! I would be overjoyed to be pregnant but worry about what DH is gonna say! I don't feel pregnant.. IDK

Hmmm...have you been preventing? But it can take awhile for your beta to go back low enough for you to ovulate again. When I miscarried at 12 weeks, it took almost 50 days for me ovulate again....and my baby's heart actually stopped sometime after 9 weeks so if you add those 21 days in there it took me something like 71 days until I ovulated again.

With a D&C though your levels should plummet quickly. I think it's the complete clean out that makes it hard to get enough lining to get your body back on track. Some docs will actually only take the pregnancy and leave some lining. I know it took one of the TTC ladies a few months to get her HCG negative but it was a D&C with issues I think. If your not preggo you may want to consider BCP for one cycle. My doc said it helps tremendously to jump start your cycles again.

Following my dnc last year af returned at 30days but it varies per woman. If you have not started yet then I would ask for labwork to make sure your hcg level is back to 0. If its not down to that you body still thinks it is pregnant and you will not ovulate. If you are pregnant agian I'm sure your dh will worry but it isn't like it is your fault alone. Whatever the out come I hope you are healing from your loss and know that there are many woman here who can offer kind words and support.

I had a d&c in April and just bled lightly forever. I didn't have a true cycle again until I did one cycle of BCP which got me right back on track. That made a big difference for me. I'm so sorry for you loss and I hope that things return to normal for you soon so that you can make whatever plans you're ready to make.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I had a D&C at 10 weeks last fall, and they followed my HCG down to 0-that took about 3 weeks. A week after my HCG was negative, my next cycle started. It is different for everyone-some get pg right away, but my cycles were a little messed up for about 4 months after the D&C (different lengths, spotting, clots, etc.).

Thanks everyone for your posts.. Your support is greatly appreciated! I haven't really been using anything to prevent pregnancy... so I guess subconsciously maybe I was just leaving things to chance? Not wanting to put so much pressure on myself? If I get pregnant I would be overjoyed... it I didn't then I wasn't consciously trying anyway.. If that makes sense. A lil immature I have to admit.

I don't know if I want to do a round of BCP... or not.. My OB said if a urine pregnancy test comes back neg. then to get my HCG taken and if that's neg... he would give me a dose of depot provera and then for me to abruptly stop taking it to get a cycle... If my HCG comes back + then its a new pregnancy and he will take over...

DH and I had a talk.. he feels lk he is ready to try again... He asked me if I was.. I didn't know what to say.. How do you know you are ready to try again? I have been continuing the healing process and am finally able to smile again. But can you ever know for sure that ur ready?
