Default 18 months to 130 lbs

I have 18 months until DH and I start TTC #2, so I need to get going on this weight loss thing. I have to lose 11 lbs. to get to a healthy weight (159 lbs. – I’m 5’ 7”) and 40 lbs. to get to my goal weight of 130.

I’ve been walking 30 minutes every day on my lunch break, as part of a health initiative at work. I plan on also:

    - Trying to get in at least 30 minutes each day on Saturday and Sunday.
    - Taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work
    - Trying to stick to 1200 calories a day.
    - More veggies, protein and whole foods in general; less carbs
    - 8 to 10 glasses of water a day

DD is still nursing, but more for comfort – she’s on solids and nurses only in the morning, when I get home from work and to go to sleep at night.

My biggest obstacles are the vending machine at work. I load up on carbs – pretzels, especially. Plus I have a Diet Pepsi habit that’s been hard to break.

This morning I weighed 170.5. I am going to weigh in every Friday morning. In the past, I’ve weighed myself every day, which can be depressing!

    You can do it mama!!

I think what you have planned is fantastic and really similar to what I am doing.

    *sigh* I miss carbs!

Anyway, back on topic! Bring healthy things for you munch on and don't keep any dollar bills on you. Can't get anything out of the machine if you don't have the cash

Haven't posted in a while, simply because I haven't been doing so well. I was up to 173.5 lbs after majorly falling off the wagon. I made some real changes this week and am back to 170 as of today. Here's what I did:

    - I am eating lowfat yogurt and a piece of fruit for breakfast
    - I am eating a high protein yogurt (skyr, actually) for lunch and a piece of fruit
    - I am walking 30 minutes at lunch.
    - I am eating what I want for dinner, within reason.

I have done OK with staying away from the vending machine, mostly because I have no money. But, coworkers have brought in snacks here and there - I am limiting myself quite a bit with them and it seems to be working. I went from 172.6 on Sunday to 170 today. Might be mostly water - who knows? But I feel like it's progress.

I am also on MFP - dkitzmama
I am trying to lose about 5 more pounds and really tone up. I am focused on eating whole, unprocessed foods, low carbs, lots of fruits and veggies. I drink Shakeology for breakfast, usually leftovers or a salad for lunch, a healthy dinner and I try to only have fruits, veggies and (measured) serving of mixed nuts. I am currently trying to cut back on my dairy to see if that helps me any. Do you add back in your exercise calories burned? It is possible that you need more than 1200 cals, especially with exercise. Making short term, attainable goals is a great strategy! You can do it!

    I'm also on MFP: spanaval

I'm an 'everything in moderation' person. I have not eliminated anything from my diet, just eat smaller quantities of it. Just make sure that whatever changes you make, are ones you can sustain for the rest of my life. It's easier to lose weight than it is to maintain, so slow and steady does it.

Well, got back from vacation last week and weighed 173.2. Ugh. So, I am trying something new. I cut out sugar. The only sugar I have been consuming since last Wednesday is the naturally occuring sugar in fruit - i.e. half a banana (DD eats the other half), a nectarine, etc. I'm no longer concentrating on calories - I was STARVING and ended up grabbing a cookie (or two) at work every day.

In addition to eliminating sugar, I'm trying to stick with unprocessed foods. The only thing I've been eating that's processed is Cheerios for breakfast.

Since last Wednesday, I've been consistently dropping at least 1/2 a lb. a day. I am at 169.1 this morning. I'll be interested to see if I'll plateau (I seem to be able to get to 164 and then balloon back up) or if I'll continue to lose.
