Default How long were you off BC before getting pregnant??

I just came off birth control pills after being on them for about 10 years. My urologist said that it will probably take a minimum of 6 months to 1 year to become pregnant but I know people who have gotten pregnant after 1 month off of BCP! I'm 24 and my husband of 4 years is 42.. I am a little concerned about his swimmers being that he is 42 and he has spent a lot of time in the hot tub, he has stopped using it though and will be having a semen analysis done in a month. How long did it take you??

I took birth control for probably about 10 years, and I was off it for 3 years before I got pregnant. My cycles were very irregular once I stopped taking birth control. Sometimes I went 3-4 months before getting my period.

I was on birth control for about 6 years. Then stopped taking it and gave my body two cycles cycles to regulate before TTC. I got pregnant the second cycle we TTC but it was a chemical pregnancy. I got pregnant again the very next cycle, and am now almost 6 months along. So I had been off of bcp's for about five months total when we finally got pregnant and it stuck. Best of luck!

I was on continuous BCP to treat my severe endo for more than 10 years. I was off 3 months and got preggo with dd. I was off for 3 months when I got preggo the 2nd time and was off for 2 months when I got preggo this time. I will say I am very diligent about charting and OPK's and getting to know my body and cycles. Good luck!

I was on BC for 14 years before we tried for our first. It took me two cycles to ovulate but I got pregnant on the first cycle I ovulated on and had a very healthy little boy. I think it's one of those things where everyone is different unfortunately. We are just now getting ready to try for #2 so this is my last cycle with pills and then it will be a waiting game. Good luck!! Oh and I was 29 when I got pregnant the first time.

Thanks for the replies! I guess we will see what happens! My husband and I are going to start taking Fertilaid. I guess for women besides it being a prenatal it helps regulate your system and ovulation which I figured would help after being on the pill.. and for the hubby it helps improve sperm count, mobility and all the good stuff. Has anyone tried it or heard anything about it??

My OB/GYN said that being on BCP has no long term affect on Fertility. I was on for 18 years and I got pregnant after my 1st regular cycle, month 2 with twins. They say the sooner you get pregnant from coming off the pill, the more likely you are to have twins since your body is getting used to non-aided cycles and both sides cand trigger an egg release. Good luck.

I conceived my first 3 weeks after I took off the Ortho Evra patch. I was 22 and my dh was 32, and I had been on the patch about 18 months.
