Default Beta question for those beta experts!

I should be about 6 weeks today. I went in yesterday because of bleeding and they did an u/s. saw a gestational sack and yolk sack but no fetal pole. Did an internal check said my cervix was closed and didn't see any red blood. They said this could be another blighted ovum. Drew blood for a beta. So I guess my question is what would a normal beta look like right now and should I still expect doubling? I know it slows down but how much? My next draw is Monday morning which is like almost 72 hours. I see my doc Tuesday morning. I was scheduled for another u/s but not sure what they will do. The thought of another miscarriage really sucks. My DH doesn't get it all. Thanks ladies.

This was my 2nd view because I noticed no one has responded and I think that stinks for you. I'm not really sure what you should expect tho, I know from my past mc that when I looked on line for beta levels I found it to be no help. I hope someone with more experience can give you a specif answer. You have been in my thoughts and I checked in FEB dd room first thing this morning to see how you are doing.

I have had bleeding in 3 pregnancies at the 5-7 week point- 1 of those a miscarriage.

With my pregnancy with Elliott, I experienced a decent bleed which made me think I was miscarrying again. Went to the ER because I was distraught. My beta came back at 11, 624. Had an ultrasound later that day and we saw a yolk sac and I measured 5 weeks, 5 days. They followed up the next week making it 4-5 days after the first blood draw which put my numbers in the 40,000s. Had an ultrasound a week after the first one and there was a heartbeat that time. I measured 6 weeks, 4 days at that point. I bled off and on for two weeks with no known cause.

With this one, again I experienced bleeding about the 6-7 week point. Went to the doctor (non-OB) they did a blood draw and just a general exam (no pelvic). My beta came back at 9557 which was measuring 4-5 weeks. They had me wait two days for a repeat draw and ultrasound. My beta came around 15,000 and on the ultrasound I measured about 5 weeks, 5 days and the heartbeat had just started bleeding. It moved my due date back a week from what I thought it was. Again I bled off and on for two weeks and when I saw my midwife she did a pelvic and determined that I had a friable cervix which was the cause of the bleeding.

So I hope this is reassuring that at 6 weeks you can have a good variation since I had two ultrasounds at 5 weeks, 5 days in two different pregnancies- one with just a yolk sac and one with the fetal pole and a newly beating heart.

Beta HCG levels have a very wide range and different people interpret them differently(http://www.baby2see.com/preconception/hcg.html). So single value does not have much significance. I remember my doctor saying my levels were low initially, but I found them in normal range when I searched online for reference range. More reliable is doubling time which is about 48-72 hours. I have read some posts where in the fetal pole was not visible up to several weeks and you are just 6 weeks now. Did they visualize the yolk sac?
Hoping that your little bean sticks and you can see him/her soon on follow up scan.

Thanks ladies. Katie, you give me hope!! I looked at my chart today and I got a positive OPK on CD17 which mean I could have ovulated as late as CD19 which would put me closer to 5 weeks rather than 6. Shannon214 had an u/s at 5w3d and only saw a sack and yolk sac. I really hope that's the case. Two blighted ovums in a row would just be ridiculous. I won't get my betas back until Tuesday. I will keep you guys posted.

With this pregnancy, I had an U/S at around 5w5d I think it was, and it was only gestational sac/yolk. I had a repeat at 7 weeks and then we saw the little beating fetal pole/primitive heart. Hang in there! I hadn't had a beta draw since right around the end of 4 weeks, so I can't really say what my numbers were at that point. I think the last one I had was over 4,000 or so, which made me really worried with that first U/S to not see the heartbeat yet. With my first pregnancy I saw heartbeat at 5w6d. I'm sure it all has to do with ovulation and implantation throwing days off.

Sorry I'm not much help with the betas but just wanted to let you know that I had an u/s at 6w1d and all they saw was a gestational sac (no fetal pole, no yolk sac, no hb). I went back three weeks later and baby was 9w 4d with a strong heartbeat! I'm almost 17 weeks now.

Well Beta went from 13,000 to 42,000 over the weekend. Doctor was cautiously optimistic. He felt that we should have been able to see more on Friday. He wanted to wait until next week for the u/s but I explained to him that we were leaving for Ohio for 3 weeks on Friday. He let me make an appointment for Thursday at 2 but warned it may be too soon again.
