    Default New twin mom-to-be

Hi! I'm about 7.5 weeks pregnant with b/g twins via IVF with PGD. I'm super excited to be pregnant after all we've been through, but a little freaked as to how we're going to do this! We have a DD who will be 3 in August. Any words of wisdom?!

    TIA!

Welcome and cngrats! We just found out yesterday that we're having G/G twins, and we also have an almost 3 yr old. I'll be checking back on this thread. Would love to hear some BTDT advice.

    Congrats!

I have a 5 year old, a 3 year old, and 7 month twins. And it's... interesting! Off the top of my head: have lots of help, prepare lots of frozen meals ahead of time, and lower your expectations of yourself (if we are all fed, clean, and clothed, I have succeeded! ).

Congratulations!! My twins are our only kids, so I can't speak to juggling twins & toddlers. I do always recommend looking into your local multiples group- it's a great way to meet other MoM's IRL and get access to consignment sales & free giveaways. We give a lot of our baby clothes & toys to a local shelter, but I've given all of our twins stuff - like strollers & matching car seats to families in our group for free. Our group also arranges meals for the families when their lo's arrive & has tons of play dates.

I hope you have a wonderful, healthy pregnancy!!

Hi! I have b/g twins and a boy who was 3.5 when they were born. It's been an adjustment, but I think that the 3yr age gap really is helpful. I think it would have been impossible to deal with two babies when DS was 2.5, but at 3.5, it's been much easier. And we're still in the newborn/itty bitty baby stage, but I have to say it's nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be. You figure out pretty quickly how to find a new (and truly wonderful) normal.

Is your DD in preschool or any regular activities? My advice is to get her into something regular (like preschool, or a specific story time or a moms morning out) and stick with that when the babies arrive. I've made sure that DS gets to go to his story time and moms morning out every week to keep some semblance of normal for him. Also, I set up playdates for him all the time, and I even have some friends who pick him up for playdates and take them to their house. It helps immensely for him to be able to get out of the house and play with his friends. If he doesn't get out every day, he's bouncing off the walls and all over the babies, which is a challenge.

Do you have family nearby? If you do, take advantage of that! Grandparents have been a lifesaver for us.

And . . . absolutely accept all help that's offered. It's not something that I'm naturally good at -- accepting help. But you know what? People offer because they want to help. And you'll need it. There's nothing wrong with accepting it. Heck, for the first time ever, I accepted help carrying out my groceries the other day. I'd never have done that before the babies were born, but it helped so much to have someone with me while wrangling three kids and groceries.

Congratulations! I'm really loving being a twin momma. It's been so cool to see how different my two babies are just in these first 12 weeks of life. I can't wait to see how they develop.
