    Question What are the chances?

First off, I'm male. I'm asking here because I don't know where else to ask aside from the first site that popped up in an internet search. I'm 17, and so is my girlfriend. We do want kids, but certainly not for a much longer time from now. We've been together for 3 years and today was the first time we've both had sex (not just with each other, but ever). Unfortunately, we did something very stupid, we did not use contraceptives. We didn't have any and we were only going to try it out. The main problem is we were in the shower, so everything was already wet, and I'm unsure if I pre-ejaculated. I've been in cold sweats ever since. My girlfriend keeps saying she doesn't believe so, but how could one know if we were already wet? Aside from this, she had complications with her ovaries last year and the doctor told her that her getting pregnant would be unlikely, if at all possible. I don't wanna exploit her medical history, but I'm just saying this because I'm about 60% sure I didn't pre-ejaculate, and it would already be rare for her to have a kid. I believe they were ovarian cysts. What are the chances, you think? I'm very nervous and scared and wanna hear straight out, please.

It all depends on her cycle and when/if she ovulated. Without knowing that it's impossible to say for sure. When is her period due?

She had her last one May 2, but they are sporadic. She used to take pregnancy pills because they regulated her cycle, but she's been off them for a long time. I understand that not enough information is given, or even available, but anything helps.

In most cases a woman is fertile about two weeks before her period arrives, assuming she ovulated. If she has irregular cycles, it's very hard to know when that would be.

You and she should be able to get the morning after pill at a local planned parenthood within three days, but the sooner you get it the more likely it works. The pill is actually a high dose of birth control that prevents a fertilized egg from implanting. Other than that you can wait two weeks and take a pregnancy test, there's really no way of knowing if she's pregnant until then.

Needless to say, you should both probably talk about what kind of protection you'll be using in the future.

I would say it's unlikely she's pregnant. It's possible but the chances are slim unless she was ovulating and you didn't pull out. The pullout method isn't fool proof and precum would be present if you ejaculated earlier with out urinating before having sexual intercourse. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/hea...ethod-4218.htm. She can get an pregnancy test at a dollar store if it's around the time she would expect her period and get an accurate result.

Little update. She has here period the next day, and it was heavy for a few days, but now she shows various signs of pregnancy (being constipated, breast pains, and nausea). Perhaps she's not pregnant, but after a week, should there be a true sign of sorts? I need to stay off Google, because I keep reading more and more and every time she mentions stuff now, it sounds pregnancy-related.

Thank you all for your help. I hope the nest time I post, it's because we have a baby on the way. Hopefully, many years from now, though. I was terrified of raising a child now because I wouldn't be able to provide all that a child would need to be happy and nurtured.

If there is nothing else I have learned in my years of trying to conceive, it's that it is incredibly easy to talk yourself into believing you are pregnant, and even experiencing symptoms, when you are not. If she had had a light period that was more like spotting, maybe, but not several days of heavy flow. If you want to ease your minds, have her test - if it's negative now, there is no chance she is pg. Just make sure you don't make the same mistake again this month! And I hope we all see you back here when you guys are ready.
