When to know for sure?

So do you all think that I could be pretty sure on the results of an HPT 3 weeks after DTD?

DH and I were really stupid and had unprotected sex late last week, just about exactly 6 weeks PP from our second child. I go into the doc for my 6 week tomorrow so I'll be getting BC then, but I don't want to start the pills until I know for sure I'm not pregnant. I'm honestly not that worried about having gotten pregnant - since it took some work and time to get pregnant with both of our children, I'm EBF my 6 week old and obviously haven't gotten AF back yet (although I know you can O before getting your first AF ). But since I don't think AF will come for a while (BF DD for 1 year and got it back one week after she weaned), I won't have AF to tell me for sure that I didn't get pregnant. Do you all think waiting 2-3 weeks and, assuming HPTs come out negative, I"ll be in the clear to start the BC??

I'd say 3 weeks is safe. It allows 1 week for implantation and 2 weeks for the test to become positive.. so yeah 3 weeks should be fine.
