    Default Not taking a bottle

We had this issue with DS too when he was around 5-6 weeks but he got over it after several tries. We have been trying for days to get DD to take a bottle of BM. We have purchased every type of bottle/nipple BRU offers and she will not take any of them. DH is the one giving her the bottles. He has tried multiple feeding positions, walking her around. I have even left the house or went in a different room where she couldn't see or hear me. We have tried feeding her when she was really hungry and not so hungry. We have tried nearly every single trick I've read online for getting a baby to take a bottle but nothing. Please tell me someone else has experienced. What can I do?????

Another mama on here told me to put the bottle nipple under my breast for a little bit. It helped us. DD was refusing the bottle after we went on a vacation and was BF the entire week.

We never could get DS to take a bottle either, so I'm no help. We ended up using a dropper when we needed him to eat and I wasn't around. Not ideal, but it got the job done. Then, we introduced a sippy cup as soon as we could, and he took to that much better. I hope you don't have to resort to that though!

We had this problem with my daughter Emma. We spent tons of money on different bottles. None of them worked. They spoon fed her milk at daycare then used a syringe. After about 6 weeks she started drinking bottles again. I hope you have quicker success. It also helps to feed her when she is still half asleep from a nap.

We had this issue too, and she basically just didn't eat while I was at work. My DH was the one giving her the bottles too, and like you we tried everything. She drinks from a sippy cup now, and she's 6 months old. She still doesn't drink a ton of milk while I'm at work. She reverse cycles so she eats quite often at night.
I know it's impossible, but try not to stress too much about it. She will eat - you might not get enough sleep, but she will get enough milk. One other person told me that babies who sleep through the night go that long without milk, and they are just fine. My baby will probably not sleep through the night for years, but whatever!

My DS never took a bottle. I was able to be a SAHM, though, I just couldn't leave the house without him until he went to bed...I normally got called back early though to feed him again.

My DD never took a bottle. I was at home with her the first year so finally stopped trying and she used a sippy for juice/water when I went back to work. She actually was drinking from a sippy from 4 mos.

My DD never took a bottle either. It ended up being fine because I never did respond terribly well to the pump anyway (manual worked better than the electric I finally figured out once she was well past the bottle stage). I'm a SAHM so she didn't *have* to take a bottle.

Have you tried giving the bottle? I hold my DS close like I'm going to breastfeed and then I talk to him and look at him and tell him to drink mommy's milk etc. He seems to take it that way okay so next I'm going to try having other people feed him. We started at about 4 weeks and he is now 7 weeks. We skipped a week though and it really did set him back to where he would only take an ounce over about a half hr. i had him up to about 2-4oz a session before. We just do one a day and try for every day.

With DS1 we were not consistent and he would never take a bottle so we stopped trying until I really needed to wean him around 13-14 months. It took awhile but he finally would drink whole milk out of a straw sippy. I added about a tablespoon of coffee creamer to sweeten it. Weird I know but that's all that worked

Good news, she is finally taking a bottle. The problem....she didn't want to held. If we sit her in her bouncer she will take a bottle just fine.
