    Default Simple sunscreen recipe

I just made this yesterday. I will let you know how it's working out for us as soon as we use it.
I did put some on my arms today and it went on nicely, although you can sort of see it as the zinc oxide powder is white but that doesn't bother me.

I am curious how this worked for you. We are outside almost every day during the summer and I would love a more natural sunblock.

It is working but be warned that it does go on white in color.

I think anything with much zinc will be pretty white unless you color it. I bet if you have natural food colors, you could make it fun colors and kiddos would like it. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Bridget, did you heat the butter and oil to blend it? The recipe just says to whip it, but I can't imagine being able to whip these two solid things together.

Not Bridget, but I got mine at soapgoods.com, b/c theirs is non-nano. So it def shows up white, but I was concerned about nano-particles.

I made it too but I changed the ratio to more shea butter and less coconut oil only b/c my skin as well as the kids skin really like shea butter. I have tried coconut oil by itself as a moisturizer and it is ok but shea butter is the best for our skins. I warmed it up a bit and mixed it really well with a whisk. I used it yesterday and this morning. You can see the zink but I put it in my palms and rub it, it warms up, gets really nice and even and then I apply on face and body.
