Default Twiddling my thumbs (x-post Nov DD)

Hey y'all... I feel like I'm sitting around twiddling my thumbs right now waiting for the gender scan. There is so much I want to do/make for baby, but not much I CAN do until I know if it's a boy or girl... can you ladies give me some ideas of things I can be working on now?

Work on a registry with the big items you plan on getting - you could include gender neutral patterns or the boy and girl equivalents and later take out the doubles. This can help you choose bassinets, crib, pack n play if you're planning on using any of them.
If you're doing a nursery or nursery-type area in your room you can decide if you're doing any special painting, pictures, etc. I know there are some places that have wall stickers that don't ruin paint and can easily be removed/changed.
A changing table and a dresser could be picked out and set up.
If you're planning on using cloth diapers and wipes the basics could be bought/made to give you a head start there. The same with cloth nursing pads.

Nursing cover if you're nursing. Diaper bag. Both of those I go with MY style--not baby gender. Cloth breast pads if you want. Burp clothes. Blankets. Hats (crochet/knit). Lots of stuff can be gender neutral or add a flower/bow for a girl or button etc for a boy. Kwim?

Make some cloth diapers and wipes! Make some decorations for the baby's room (with DD1 I painted a bunch of different animal pictures and made a cross stitch blanket to go on the wall.) Sew some burp cloths.

For a lot of the big things you are better off not buying gender-specific because if you plan to have another child you will be able to reuse. Things like strollers, infant seats, swings, boppy pillow, cloth diapers, shopping cart cover, sling/carrier, diaper bag, etc. You can start making lists or a registry with those items?

I'm totally in the same boat right now. I've got tons of sewing projects picked out and stuff I want to buy but I don't feel like I can really do anything til after we find out the gender (two more weeks!). Until then, I'm just planning as much as I can and making tons of lists. I think we're going to get the crib and bureau this weekend. Hang in there, its not too much longer now!

Well, I find out in 8 days, 4 hours, just kidding... (who's counting???) But really, we find out the sex on the 14th. I have already bought quite a bit of gender-neutral sleep gowns, onesies, and a blanket here and there. I have purchased my diaper bag, and some of those wubanub paci sets. I bought the crib, mattress and matress pad today, because regardless of sex, I am know the furniture we are doing. Also, I have already registered for and picked out the majority of basic gear - like the swing, bouncer, stroller, car seat, etc....all of those items are totally gender neutral because I don't want to have to re-purchase items for the next baby. But that is just my personal opinion - even if its a girl ( which I suspect greatly), I will not be the one to get all pinked out...

I used 1st tri to read up and research baby stuff - the big stuff at least. That way, when I did know gender, I'd be able to know what brands I trusted from the get-go and wouldn't have to spend so much time on my tired feet comparison shopping in the store.
